Started getting my teeth into last weekend too. A great read.

You too. Mine was a lot shorter than yours!
It was great to meet and talk to you Matt! 🤓

3d printed model of a tiny been and some very important books on my childhood and computer journey
Having a great old time meeting friends and hacking on old Acorns at ABUG south. Representing my adopted homeland with an @adriansdigitalbasement.com t-shirt :)
😤. I’m sure you’ll find a little more space if needed. I have a few new tools for less cack-handed IC removal than some of my previous efforts ☺️ in case that helps. Make sure you bring the tiny Beeb too. I can help you finish that setup for sure 😉.
Oh dear. I guess we know your main priority for this weekend then…
Ooh. Reflowing sockets. You are becoming a soldering whizz!
What storage device are you using? I think some of the bitshifters demos are fussy and must run from real floppy or gotek. Just tested on my Beeb running from gotek and it ran fine.
My luggage tags.
I resorted to double checking with a multimeter.
I’ve been told I’m a perfectionist. I think I might have to accept it. ☺️. It’s a very nice way to escape from things focussing on fun little projects like this. I’ve become a little addicted lately. 😬
We are the fortunate ones of course.
I’m off to Northern Ireland for work this week. That should be ok 🤞. I was finishing off my TNMOC volunteering application this evening but we’ve now got a power cut. Second in two days!
Best that you’re back here safe and sound.
They look minging 😬. I once made a loaf of otherwise good quality bread but added blue food colouring as an experiment. My blue cheese and tomato sandwiches just didn’t seem to taste as good as usual. Sparked discussion though about a blind taste test to see if the appearance was to blame.
I’m thinking about taking full setups with CRTs on a work trip next week. Should be very useful in a room full of data scientists and statisticians.
Oops. Looks like I deleted my reply somehow. Should stick to vintage computers I think. ☺️
Mini Beeb getting packed into my work rucksack, suitcase in the background
Off on a work trip for a few days, but thanks to @danrolfe.bsky.social I can still bring a Beeb with me 😁
Ooh I love a good regex. One of the things I like most about my text editor of choice these days, Sublime Text, is its super regex support in search and replace. Very satisfying. Made up for the pain of finally dropping EMacs 👴.
Been there. But C++ and Python.
We’re all traumatised by your current series of course. 🤣
The Muppet Christmas Carol is my favourite version.
A long-haired bloke with an amused expression on a canal maintenance barge and holding up a MASSIVE plug on the end of a chain. It literally looks like an outsized version of the one in your kitchen sink. Behind him is a canal devoid of water. These two things are linked in the obvious way...
And yes, a pro tip from the lads dredging the Chesterfield Canal in 1978: if you find a chain at the bottom of a canal, under no circumstances should you keep pulling it to see what's on the other end
Before I’ve watched it my prediction is…. No.
Lovely!
RIP Stanley Baxter. This BBC Micro advert was a classic.

Festive! Get started in my new year resolutions early.
What's that knocking at the door? Why, it's the first of the Advent of Beeb Games videos!
