Conversely, "Orbital Winter" happens when the Beta angle is low, causing maximum eclipse time. Satellites must survive long periods in the dark, relying heavily on batteries and internal heaters to keep from freezing.๐ฅถ๐
The Consequences: Heat ๐ฅ"Orbital Summer" isn't just about light; it's about heat. Without the shadow of an eclipse to cool down, the satellite heats up
Check the telemetry: Temp steady at ~24ยฐC+ and rising. Batteries are fully charged. Solar panels are generating non-stop power
The Numbers Behind the Magic Why is this happening? ๐ข
Look at the Orbital Parameters:
โข Inclination: 97.87ยบ Period: 93.56 min
This high inclination combined with the Earth's current position creates a high "Beta Angle," keeping the satellite entirely out of Earth's shadow.
The Visual Proof First, look at our new tracking map. The orbit path now features a sunlight gradient.
๐ก Yellow = Full Sunlight ๐ต Blue = Eclipse/Shadow
Notice Norby's path is solid yellow? It is currently bathing in constant sunlight. No eclipse. 24/7 power.
Think satellites are immune to seasons? Think again! ๐ฐ๏ธ โ๏ธ โ๏ธ
They experience "Orbital Summer" and "Orbital Winter" with extreme effects. ๐ฅต๐ฅถ
