An example attack in my game is stored as
"move bullet from cell A to B",
"move bullet from cell B to C",
"lower stat X on cell C unit by Y",
"push cell C unit from cell C to D"

& each module can be given visual effects - it's real nice

I always felt out of my element working on game feel, but breaking game events into arbitrarily combine-able modules makes it real natural to polish any one module individually

def need to make "back attacks" a thing, especially for attacks that buff the player, as lining up a ricochet to shoot yourself in the back is fun

They hella fumble by immediately giving Faith a new comms guy like 3 rooms later, and the ending is all sorts of goofy, but I still really love how good the best moments of that game can get

Coolest thing in Mirror's Edge is the start of the final chapter right after the comms guy dies & it's just dead silence with no guidance on what you're doing

Never really liked the constant narration, but that plays into the sentiment. Gives a great feeling of solitude, yet trust in the player
