Cover of Summer of Fire and Blood by Lyndal Roper.

As term comes to an end, finally have some time to read. Delighted to have found a book on the German Peasants War which looks for the voices of the peasants and brings their world, hopes, dreams and theology to life.

Renewables are highly competitive and, for this reason, low-profit. Fossil fuels are uncompetitive and high profit. Media proprietors, like almost all billionaires and hectomillionaires, gain exceedingly by investing in them. [HIGHLIGHTED] If it is sometimes hard to tell the difference between fossil-fuel lobbyists and the billionaire press, this is because there isn’t one. [END OF HIGHLIGHT] For the sake of the ultra-rich, we are all being gaslit.

Incredibly helpful article. As someone who is just trying to learn about Islam, I gained new insights. But it also raises important questions about what it means to be an inclusive society.

A screenshot of a post by Maya Forstater on X (formerly Twitter). The main image is a dark, blue-tinted selfie of Forstater in the foreground, wearing glasses and a patterned scarf. Behind her is a large, crowded concert arena with a brightly lit stage in the distance. Below the photo is a quote-repost from "The Lies They Tell" (@sarahstuartxx) which reads:
"Join me tonight as I cover live the thrills and spills of the Trans Mission Live concert. Turns include Zack Polanski, Beth Ditto and a bunch of people you’ve never heard of. Literally hundreds of people attending the #FoxKillersVanityProject"

A screenshot of a post by Julie Bindel on X featuring the hashtag #TransMission. The image shows a candid, side-profile photo of a woman with short dark hair wearing a long-sleeved green shirt. She is leaning against a black metal railing in what appears to be a dimly lit venue with purple ambient lighting.

It's really funny how Maya Forstater and Julie Bindel spend all their time online fearmongering about how trans people are dangers to women and children yet they went to a stadium full of 10k trans people and nothing at all happened to them.

Thanks for the donation, hope you enjoyed the show!

The Green Party has won more elections than Reform have.

Why are Reform constantly on TV and the Green Party is ignored?

The electorate says it should be the other way around.

You know who really are the biggest losers after the Greens win in Manchester? Not just Labour, Reform and the Tories, but the London media which has platformed and cosseted and cheerled for Reform. The Greens whipped two sets of extremists: billionaire-backed Reform and billionaire newspaper barons

What we have seen in Gorton and Denton is what we saw in Caerphilly in October.

A lot of people really don’t want the hateful politics of Reform and will work hard and smart to try and keep them out.

Labour must now listen to this and stop the grim attempts to mimic Farage.

Epstein’s victims ignored while UK’s interests take priority, former prosecutor says Nazir Afzal says police moving at pace when files relate to state interests while alleged survivors of sexual abuse are neglected

While it is good to see some kind of accountability for Mountbatten-Windsor, it is still deeply unsettling that the charge is misconduct in public life. This is still not justice for the victims. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

The trouble is that every solution to abuse of AI in assessment lands us back in a world where memory and thinking quickly gets rewarded. I hope we find a way to retain a mix of assessments.

Political people love to debate who the worst modern PM in modern times was but it's unquestionably Cameron.

10 years ago this week he gambled the prosperity and fragile unity of the UK on a referendum on an issue that most people didn't even understand to placate back benchers and fucked us all.

Airline’s bleating about having to pay their own way - they want to “challenge the regulatory model” - so do I and many others, we should end the entirely tax free zone that this industry operates within.

Graphic stating:

After Andrew’s arrest, there must be an independent inquiry into what the Royal Family knew about his Epstein links.

It’s time for a serious national debate about abolishing the Monarchy. Even if you disagree, we should discuss the role of hereditary privilege in our democracy.

I agree, it is a crime. I would manage a little more respect for that family and the lectures about the environment and duty, if they had one royal residence and gave the rest back to the country.
