As a fellow member of that cohort, the transformation from the “Fuck the man!” generation into the “Fuck your feelings (but not my feelings, those are precious)!” generation is just embarrassing.

I was a fan of Steak ‘n Shake back in the day, before I moved from Michigan to Houston and there basically weren’t any around here.
But holy shit is their continued glazing of RFK, Jr., of all people, offensive. Roger Ebert is rolling in his grave.
Every time it gets worse, I think “Is this cold dose of reality what the media needs to take Trump’s fitness for office as a serious question?” Then I catch myself because the answer is always “No.”
The downed airman story combined with the tabloid of him not getting nuclear codes was the latest.
Ah, Skate or Die. The “Hey, sorry we couldn’t reproduce 720° at home, but maybe try this thing instead?” of the NES.
This debate always reminds me of this now nearly 30-year old bit of banter from the band Moxy Fruvous about Garry Kasparov vs. Deep Blue.
Essentially, we built a machine that can do A thing better than humans. Good job, but so what.

Yep. From mid-March til about May, people were generally on board with the Covid restrictions.
But then bodies weren’t stacking up in their towns and people mostly weren’t getting that sick, and kids were still at home, right-wing outrage machine was able to turn public safety protocols political.
You guys remember when Charlie Sheen was having a mental breakdown but kept insisting that everything was “Winning!” and everybody laughed and was entertained for a couple of months but then we stopped paying attention and his career tanked?
Just thinking about that this morning.
At first it seemed like Filoni (and Favreau) was doing the hard work of trying to somehow make sense of what happened in the gap between ROTJ and TFA.
But gradually he started to shift focus to “How many things from my animated shows can I bring into live action?” Which is not nearly as interesting
According to the Shopify ad on podcasts that is the only place I’ve ever heard of Allbirds, it’s a “cool brand” that is “selling through the roof”, and has been for the past two years.
Relevant to @volts.wtf from a few weeks back.
Boy, that sounds like it’s gonna end up as a financial death spiral for countries where oil exports are a big deal. I guess we’ll check back in 2040 and see how all of them are doing.
Not defending DoorDash or this event, because it sucks.
But I’m a full-time gig grocery shopper and file jointly with my wife, a teacher.
Since roughly 55% of my income is tips, Trump’s No Taxes on Tips Scam resulted in a $4000 swing for us this year, from owing $1000 to getting a $3000 refund.
For reference, Houghton is the green area way up in the middle of the top tip of the Upper Penninsula. It is the 235th biggest municipality in Michigan.
Recent rebrand a handful of gas stations around Houston. Are there any electric chargers at any of these Charge Ups? Nope. Just deep irony.
Tron looks cool in The Grid, but it’s so, so boring. But Wendy Carlos’ melodies are awesome.
2 has a great soundtrack and visuals, and the concept is good. The story is just kinda ho-hum.
I agree that they probably shouldn’t have ignored 2 in 3, but I found it the most consistently entertaining.
Best movie in the Tron series. Which honestly says more about the franchise than this perfectly enjoyable but pretty fluffy blockbuster.
Curious on why you’re going with a Tuesday release when the music industry by and large went to Friday releases about 15 years ago.
Is it because since physical media is largely boutique at this point and it’s mostly streaming anyway, there’s no real reason to stick to Friday?
It can also be inferred that the same reasoning is part of why Sony got cold feet about releasing KPop Demon Hunters theatrically and sold it to Netflix instead.
Is this the “I wished for this girl to love me” one?
Did we finally find a way to get a Dem to drop out of the Primary?
Every time Lauren enthusiastically used the Hegseth term “warfighters” in this episode it was like nails on a chalkboard.
I assume it’s a habit she’s developed because the company is dealing with the military so much, but man, painful to hear.
BRB, changing the Wikipedia entry for The Streisand Effect to The Melania Effect.
Rank and file soldiers publicly saying, “Fuck you, Pete,” to the Secretary of Defense seems significant.
@nytpitchbot.bsky.social Here’s another one for the “Can’t Top This” pile.
This is why police unions are terribly effective at their job - protecting their police officer members at all costs - and just plain terrible at everything positive people associate unions with.
Wow, Zeph Lundy ended up being completely against the grain with his Drive-By Truckers review. A Blessing and a Curse is probably the least-regarded album of their classic era.
