Panels now made and safely stored for summer delivery. Who wants to go next?

People tell me they don’t want children because of the uncertain world, climate change and so on. Ok, I thought so as well, not anymore. Later, they go and say they’re flying to another continent for a holiday. Then there's people saying, it’s not down to individual actions...
Yes, if 3D printing would solve important issues in construction like airtightness details around windows e.g. then we could talk, but it's usually about the most basic stuff that was solved ages ago. And it adds problems.

Very nice comparison of best practice biobased mid rise residential buildings across Europe.

Printed houses are the emperor’s new clothes of the building industry.
3D printing buildings. Personal opinion here as an early adopter, if the better projects still are a solution looking for a problem then how is this technology going to help in the near future besides fueling techno-optimism. www.3dwasp.com/en/itaca-the...
It's a half-hearted article with little substance that just confirms your biases. Nothing more.

We should start a company to capitalize on the upcoming decorative renaissance with cob or hemp-lime elements. I can already clearly picture the hand drawn product catalog.
The pictured car is now under 13.000€ in Germany. I just looked it up yesterday because a neighbour told me EVs were too expensive, she said 30k. While my EV was charging almost for free behind us through PV.
The "buildings" share of 5% is imho misleading people, since this adds to the belief buildings have only emissions of heating and light. (Prove me wrong). Building materials are responsible for 11% of global emissions. The whole picture is around 40% and it's still lost in scicom.
Yes. most convenience building products are more or less fossil based.
But don't wait for a global standard, that's what countries use as an excuse to do nothing about the problem that current construction is completely unsustainable. Aim for the best practice.
One of the reasons that upfront emissions of construction are ignored in most countries are the fragmented data sets. Most countries are cooking their own soup, with missing ingredients.
A global whole life carbon emission standard sounds great. Good to see @martinroeck.com working on it.
Did you know that it’s not just the wrong cars and wrong heating systems that consume oil? Cement plants also downplay their high emissions by using 'alternative fuels'. These fuels are mostly made from waste that is itself derived from oil.
Pattern testing with a cookie cutter and earth plaster on a scrap piece
Just fooling around with cookie cutters. Do you know any historic decorations on earth plaster?

The future is mostly about the (rapidly) renewables. Why? Because they are renewable, fast. Let that sink in for a moment.
Right?

I did write timber quota / share or similar but somehow it developed into growth via mental gymnastics.
You are right I was mentally combining this with former numbers.
Tradition, forest cover, a lot of small carpentry firms + huge mass timber players are located in the south of Germany.
timber construction trend in Germany, regionally dependend. EFH= single family home, MFH = multi family home
Interesting insight in german timber construction growth. Single family homes (an obsolete new building type) are not growing as fast as multi family homes. A lot of potential, but keep in mind that forest products ares only 1 part of the biobased transition. www.linkedin.com/posts/denny-...
Earth plaster on scrap wood fiber, scale pattern imprint through 3D printed cookie cutter. Wooden tile forms on the table
Experimented with cookie cutters and earth plaster. Can you see the potential?
Gonna try earthen tiles in interlocking patterns. Unfired of course.
3 strawbale construction teams participated: HALM Prefabrication, the small carpentry firm Hartböhner Zimmerleute, and experienced traveling straw builders. All teams produced a passive house-grade component for rapid, healthy, easy construction/retrofitting without harming the climate.
it's chopped reed straw (hay is more nutritious) instead of wood chips.
It's basicaly also "woody" just not from a forest with long growth cycles.
