Realizing I'm writing the same fic over again kind of. I start out thinking "this one is going to be different" but then the characters are like "nope, this is how we are." Fine, I guess. Weirdos.
Feeling more self-hatred than usual which is saying something and then someone left a lovely comment on one of my favorite things I've written saying it cheered them up when they really needed it so . . . that was really nice. Obviously I should stake my self-esteem on comments & kudos (OR NOT).
I guess I'm just going to keep writing ridiculous Slow Horses fic though I really would like to finish off more of the Dark Knight trilogy fic or decide if I'm just not finishing that stuff. I dunno. Now rereading some of it & seeing how much repetition there is between the stories boooo.
Kind of interesting (to me only probably) learning which stories I'm most happy to get kudos/comments on. Maybe they're the most personal or ones I like best? I don't know. (Or they haven't received enough love.) (Got a nice comment on Leaning in Proximity, kudos on Advanced Maneuvers . . . )

One year when I was looking for winter holiday vids I found one that I liked only they'd put like a snow or snowflake filter over the whole dang thing. WHY.
Realizing I just reposted a vid on my other account that does more of that stuff than I usually care for but it somehow worked for me anyway or I looked past the lyrics part.
The ones I find most frustrating are where there is a decent vid buried under filters and/or giant lyrics.
The stuff that needs fixing are things like tense issues, the jokes are fine.
Kind of hilarious how I keep trying to write angst or porn (LOL as if) and I keep wind up writing flangst at best. Fluff. Sap. I guess there are worse ways of coping with grief and trauma.
And then I stayed up all night writing and ta-da! 14 chapters + epilogue for a total of 63,545 words.
Maybe next time I will not post as I write! I mean this time I wrote ahead of posting for a time.
Doing that thing again where I've been posting a WIP as I write it (or at least now I am, at first I had written a bit ahead) & I need to end this thing somehow and instead I want to just start other stories or work on other old things oh no.

When I first started reading fic on AO3, I thought the number of Kudos might tell me which work was the author's best but I learned it's more about popularity of ship, fandom, or trope or . . . who even knows. If a work is in a fest or exchange. If it gets a big rec. So many reasons. 🤷♀️
It is one of my shorter works & it occurs to me not everyone wants to read long wordy fic from some new writer who admits they don't know what the fuck they're doing. 😂

I've been puzzled by the response to my small slate of fanworks for not-very-popular ships.
My fic with the most kudos is a soulmark fic I wrote on a whim & haven't even finished.

In a non-shocking development, I've been rewatching Slow Horses.
It is Gary Oldman's birthday today. I really did not set out to only write fanfic about characters played by him and that's not exactly true but anyway.
I had great plans to put together a new vid show each month this year but then the occupation happened and welp. I wasn't really committed to it, wasn't sure I'd manage it, but it could've been fun. At least I got the More Joy Day one put together.
Dusted off a Bruce/Jim WIP from ages ago & slapped an ending on it. Rough, but I'm tired of staring at all these WIPs and not doing anything with them & maybe someone will like it. (I'm supposed to be finishing a long Slow Horses fic but went on some side quests.)

everyone should try and ship a rarepair at least once in their life. it is very fulfilling work. no fretting about numbers. just pure being unhinged about your favourite characters kissing. you appreciate every kudo and comment because the max capacity of interactions you'll ever hit is 10
I posted chapter 5 late last night or early that morning & then got a lovely & amusing comment from someone saying they'd been thinking so much about the fic they'd dreamed I posted thru chapter 6 today (I posted chapter 5).
I went ahead & posted chapter 6 today & made their dream come true. 🎉😂
