The Chinese had an agriculture with the philosophy to put everything back on what they took out. This way they could sustain this huge population before industrial agriculture. Nowadays we are just flushing all the fertilizer down the toilet.

I know this all. But the increased yield created an increased population growth. Everything that helps is good but we can not just say to return to 200 years before.

How do you feed all the animals? Most of their food has also to be grown and need fertilizers.

And does your local farmer use only ecologic fertilizer on his greens?

Or we have to create ammonia with the help of renewable electricity. Best would be some small reactors where farmers can directly create ammonia on their own with solar or wind energy

Even ecologic farming depends on manure from conventional farming. They just proclaim that when it sits long enough that it is ok to use. So even ecologic farming is dependent on the energy coming from gas. To get away from this dependency we have to return everything we take out back to the field.
