About skill trees in games #incrementalgame
About skill trees in games #incrementalgame YouTube video by ChillfoxGames

In many incremental games, skill trees tend to grow into one large system over time. They offer depth, but can also become overwhelming and harder to navigate.

I tried a different approach in Lux Anima, what do you think?

Do you like playing games that require strategy, or ones you can just go with the flow?

In Lux Anima, both playstyles are supported. You can plan everything, or keep it simple and relax.

I’ve always loved listening to lo-fi and Japanese music, and making it as well.

Both the game design and the soundtrack of Lux Anima are heavily influenced by that passion.

If you like the vibe, don’t forget to wishlist it on Steam!

This game starts slow and calm. As you trust the progression, the system begins to take over.

In Lux Anima, the player role evolves, from active control to higher-level decisions through automation.

One of the spirit types in my game is the Bomb Spirit. Her cuteness is inspired by a real person, but in the game, she’s still someone you’ll have to defeat.

The Lux Anima demo is on Steam & itchio, let me know what you think!

Good game design isn’t always about showing more and making every player decision strategic.

In Lux Anima, attacks are automatic, and there’s no clear indicator for when they trigger. It’s about flow, not micromanagement.

One of the main inspirations behind this game is simply water. Its calmness, clarity, and sense of purity make it my favorite element.

Even if it’s not blue, I think black completes the feeling of night perfectly🌚 #gamedev #indiegame #lofimusic #minimalistart #cozygames

I think it’s still too early to say in my case, I don’t have enough data to make a proper comparison yet 🫠

On YouTube, vertical videos seem to get slightly more reach than my horizontal ones. So they might be performing a bit better in terms of views, but I’m not sure about the CTR yet.

What do you think about these kinds of vertical videos for promoting a game?

Any ideas on how to make them better in general?

Why do people believe 2D art is easier than 3D modeling? With modeling there are assets to use and modify, and tools for modeling are very strong and capable. On the other hand, 2D is all about abstraction and art.

This is a good point. I have taken a note of this and will try to come up with something.

Hmm I don't know how to improve that. I really don't want to implement a hard tutorial which I am not a big fan.

This has been very useful for me. Thank you for taking your time to help. It is always very refreshing to see what you build from someone else's eyes.

One question if I may ask, did you notice the tutorial tips below after you fail a level or should I make it more highlighted for more people to notice?

Your energy always run out. The purpose is to survive untill you fill your lantern if you can do that you pass to the next prestige(difficulty). You unlock more powers/rewards by doing so.

Thanks for trying out. Everytime you fail you see tips on the bottom of the page written in pinkish/purple explaining all the stuff you said. I though that would be enough but would you prefer a tutorial? Flowers produce essence that fills your lantern.
