EIndelijk?
Bought some cleaning tablets for my coffee machine, a 10€ transaction. Guy at the check out immediately asked for my e-mail and found me 'quite rude' for saying 'no thanks'. Next up: how come there are so many phishing attempts and it's so hard to tell them apart from genuine messages? I do wonder 🙄
How exactly does it take *nine* aircraft to serve 3 destinations - none any farther away then 34 miles - from an island that has about 2.200 inhabitants? #AvGeek
Premier Doug Ford says his government plans to give Toronto's Billy Bishop Airport special designation that would allow the province to bypass municipal and provincial laws as it pushes to expand the runway downtown.
Screenshot from Loganair showing prices for the Glasgow to Barra flights of at least 155 £, up to 173 £
What happened to the prices of the Barra flights? It's been a while since I looked at this route, but I don't remember them being THIS high. And I didn't cherry pick a specific day either, it's these kind of prices on every single day of the next few months. #AvGeek
"Researchers from Cornell University have developed what they call "the Corporate Bullshit Receptivity Scale," a tool designed to measure how impressed people are by business school-style jargon that sounds strategic but says very little."
Fijn stuk, en absoluut accuraat - ondanks de nogal ingewikkelde en obscure materie. www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/20...
Pretty sure I just picked up IRIB Radio from Iran, on a small portable radio in my living room. Just like that. Analogue technology is still really cool. 📻
This was such an amazing project to work on, it really pushed me to the limits of what I can do with mapping tools
"You might expect a bot to have guardrails that prevent it from helping you plan a crime, but your expectations might be too high."
The premier [of Ontario] says he would like to expand the airport's runway, including jet flights...
De Interrail-passen staan weer op 15 procent korting (voor reizen binnen dit en elf maanden). Doe er je voordeel mee! (En als je vragen hebt over hoe dat werkt, dan is reisbureau Gatzios beschikbaar.)
They obviously might, but I believe that info is there because when booking, you ultimately 'talk' to the same reservation system as used by their regular site. So it serves an internal purpose at least to have the exact train listed.
Of course, just looking at the prices on their site would give you a good indication as well. The 07:56 and 17:56 departures must have the lightest loads.
Screenshot from the 'snap.eurostar.com' site showing the time blocks as '07:56 - 14:00' and '14:00 to 20:56'
Part of the API response showing the exact timings: departing Brussels at 07:56, arriving London at 08:57
Another part of the API response showing the planned train for the later timeslot.
Essentially, they make you pick one of two VERY broad time blocks - up to 7 hours. But surely, they'll put you on whatever train has the most empty seats and set the fare based on the number of unsold seats? And yes, it turns out that their API shows the exact train already 😂 (2/2)
I've been looking into Eurostar's 'Snap' site that lets you book last minute train tickets at a somewhat decent discount. As it goes with these kind of schemes, you have to be very flexible. But not quite as flexible as they make you believe. (1/2)
Het was denk ik van de pandemie geleden dat we nog eens iets met de 'Popular Times' data van Google gedaan hadden, maar het was er de week wel voor 😎 De tekst is van @thomasroelens.bsky.social, de data en het gepruts van yours truly.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, there are big price differences between Train + Flight itineraries and that same route without the first and last legs. This, for example, is Cologne-Kinshasa vs Brussels-Kinshasa. (But 5h14 between plane and train? Ouch)
I know, from experience, what you mean 😎 But really, any 'attempt' is welcome at BRU. Also, if Brussels Airlines is selling tickets for Cologne-BRU-XXX, at least they 'believe' it's going to be somewhat OK? 🤞
Schedule for this new connection showing a departure in Cologne at 06:11, arriving Brussels Airport at 08:29 and Antwerp at 08:58
Serving Antwerp as well and, at least between Cologne and BRU, sold as a codeshare with Brussels Airlines.
There's going to be a new high-speed rail connection at Brussels Airport. Finally.
"Deutsche Bahn is adding Brussels Airport to its network [... ] as of September 2026. The first train of this new connection will depart in Cologne on September 7th at 06.11 am.“
That looks great, love it!
