My experiences at ONT are that you could arrive after 7am and still make this light lmao.

More realistically leave at 6am

My dissertation research has really soured me on local government in a lot of ways...but sometimes I wonder whether that's less because of local government and more because I'm just looking at California at present

Genuinely the state needs to just nuke the city government at this point. Start over with a new structure and get rid of all the fucking procedures that turn each city council district into each members private little fiefdom

It happened again. The dodgers may never win another baseball game

Pray for the Dodgers fan in your life. The team lost a baseball game today and we're not used to that.

Everyone who gets off the elevator on a lower floor than me: weak, wasting everyone's time, no one will remember your name

Me getting off at my floor before others: perfectly acceptable, my floor is the first floor where one can do this, an efficient use of everyone's time

I have been looking for a graph I saw on this app or maybe the other place a couple days ago that showed the composition of American Christians by denomination/tradition over time. So far I have not had any luck.

Anyone happen to have it?

It say a lot about the new season of Euphoria that Marshawn Lynch's one line was nearly the best line read in the whole first episode...

What a let down man

Morons. Absolute utter morons.

I have long since learned not to put much stock in MAGA voters' intelligence...but damn man how dumb are these guys that their reaction is "art of the deal the strait is open"

You absolute clowns. The strait was open (and also free to transit!) before Trump started this stupid fucking war.

I hate that you can always tell that coffee cups in TV shows are empty.

Be brave and put something in the cups!

Frankly I should have seen it coming, but I didn't clock that when I decided to teach a course on the history and contemporary implications of housing discrimination that I would end up having to explain why a self-amortizing mortgage is such a big deal

Another thing I want to note about this -

It was surprising how little some of the metro board members seem to know about the process, about the technical details, about the funding mechanisms, etc.

One of the problems with having a board made up of people who have several other jobs.

5. People really, passionately, truly, deeply distrust this board. And seemingly with pretty good reason.

4. Chair Dutra looked quite surprised, several times, about just how substantial the affiliations of the people who came to speak were.

3. One of the Lafayette Square homeowners said she was worried about electromagnetic radiation from the trains. I thought we couldn't get more unscientific but I was so wrong lmfao.

2. One of the Lafayette square homeowners got up and said "look I go to this ralphs all the time but I can walk to sprouts and target just as easily" to another round of derision from her neighbors.

Some highlights from public comment:

1. After I pointed out that the Ralph's is, in fact, not the only grocery store in the neighborhood, one of the Lafayette square homeowners who'd called me on my personal phone to complain to me yelled "you're full of shit" which I thought was very funny.

The metro board meeting was very annoying and it was very obvious that the board members came to an agreement before public comment even got started.

Ultimately I think this is still mostly a win, but Jesus Christ man we're compromising between sense and nonsense here.
