I think it's normal for a person developing a game in a room by themself. Welcome to the club :D

You might want to deliberately take your time 😅

It's a brilliant set, loved building it, & it looks great; but it only took me about 2 hours to build it.

Yeah, the chances of "overenthusiastic user error" are pretty high if you're not careful.

I do this:
* [fast forward] is not-quite-instant it just displays the text a LOT faster
* [skip] won't skip til text display is complete
* threshold min. time between the two to prevent accidental spam

I hate unskippable cutscenes. With or without VO. Games, for me, are about interactivity & agency. My ideal is subtitles with one button which on 1st press insta-spawns the entire current dialog line, and on the 2nd skips to the next, the loop that.

If you want to emulate a PS1 look then that's the correct choice.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

It’s absolutely incredible that one of the largest Japanese-run Go servers, which has been running since 1992, is still accessed entirely via Telnet. And while most players use GUI clients that use Telnet under the hood, you can still connect manually and get ASCII graphics streamed to you

Comparing Floating Point Numbers, 2012 Edition This post is a more carefully thought out and peer reviewed version of a floating-point comparison article I wrote many years ago. This one gives solid advice and some surprising observations about…

Nice post! I assume you've seen @randomascii.bsky.social's (mamy) posts about the weirdnesses of float?
Very worthwhile checking them out if you haven't.

If you return unwanted Reform local election leaflets to their party headquarters using their free post address, then it will cost the party £2.50 per envelope.

Please don’t share this information; it could cost Nigel Farage a fortune.

Matt Walsh @MattWalshBlog

A weird thing is that whenever I post criticism of Al, the majority of the people agreeing with me seem to be leftists. It's pretty much the only position I hold that seems to be more popular with the left than the right. It should be the opposite. My whole point about Al (especially Al in creative fields) is that it isn't human, it doesn't have a soul, and we cannot surrender our society to an unhuman soulless algorithm even if it makes our lives easier in some ways. It's very strange that an argument predicated on the existence of the soul resonates with the left while conservatives tend to scoff at it.
