I’m trying to give myself 30 minutes a day to ignore my thesis writing, stop reading climate change literature, and just pretend that everything is okay.
Today that looked like teaching my dog where to put her ball and my horse where to stand so I can reach down and grab it with the chuckit.
Super Bowl ad drives home the critical point: When it comes to acting on climate change #lateristoolate.
But SOLUTIONS EXIST. If we act now, we can help protect the people and places we love.

January 2025 was quite unexpectedly the warmest January on record at 1.75C above preindustrial, beating the prior record set in 2024.
This is despite the presence of La Niña conditions in the tropical Pacific, with the El Niño event of 2023/2024 long faded. www.theclimatebrink....
@librofm.bsky.social is great! And it supports local bookstores!
One of the few good things to come across my email lately. Thank you @amfisheriessoc.bsky.social 🐠🧪🌊
This is Roo.
Roo loves swimming in the ocean regardless of the temperature.
Roo is definitely not cold and does not need to take a break. Or be done. Ever.
Somewhere in the U.S., there’s a scientist staring at their NSF/NIH grant application wondering why they bother. This post is for you. Science and society both need you. Hang in there and know there is a whole community supporting you.
If you, like me, are using sweet treats to cope with….*gestures around* all of this, here are some bios and websites for trans Girl Scout members so you can buy cookies from them! www.erininthemorning.com/p/2025-trans...
As expected, the Trump team is already deleting climate info from government websites. In anticipation, our team at Urban Ocean Lab created a permanent archive of 100+ key resources and published a permanent archive: www.urbanoceanlab.org/resource-hub 👩🏽💻
I’m getting so excited by finding fellow scientist-equestrians!
Yes!! I thought the same thing when I saw your profile! Your mare is gorgeous. What is she?
Today I got to sit with my oldest friend. Thank you for putting so much trust in a 12 year old girl and for showing me what flying feels like. I miss you every day bubs.
At a time where it feels like we're losing, we need to remember our victories that not only have happened in the past, but continue to exist today.
Thus I give you, California Condor 926 of the SoCal flock.
Great grandchild of Condor # 1.
We as humanity can still do good things.

They really are. Thank you so much!!
Im focusing on one species right now because they have a unique spawning behavior and leave their eggs on the beach to develop mostly out of the water. So they’re more vulnerable than other species to temp changes. But I’m all done with the research portion! Just writing and analyzing data now.
It’s a masters in marine biology but my research is on how rising temperatures will affect the development of a local marine fish!
I would love that! Thank you so much!
Yes!!
This is my application to join the fellow ocean scientists 🌊🧪 book lovers 📚 and good humans of bluesky.
You can find me writing my masters thesis, beach combing with my dog, or sitting on my horse trying to escape the madness that is our current timeline. 🖤
Want to talk about fish? I’m your girl.
Thank you for this! I’m a “non-traditional” master’s student right now and this is definitely something that I have been struggling with. Having a good support system is an absolute must!
