Don't tease me like that

I am a medieval historian!! The world always is in a state, it has never not been in a state, joy and delight and beauty is what humanity exists for
One thing I will never understand: How did the 90s give us Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, Anti-Flag, Rise Against, Dead Prez, Pennywise, etc., but suddenly when we have actual neo-fascists in charge of things...
Seriousness aside, all I hear when I see this: youtu.be/CSvFpBOe8eY?...
Unfortunately formatted hand written sign at the March 28th No Kings protest in New Haven saying "War crimes don't hide sex crimes", but it also can be read as War don't sex. Crimes hide crimes"
WAR DON'T SEX
CRIMES HIDE CRIMES
Gen Z just got their own grade-A example of why Oxford commas matter.
As a guy, my opinion should be taken with a large grain of salt, but I'd suggest starting with "hi!" and then building from there. Sending a message that strengthens a relationship probably does more than sending something generic. (Would also accept "fuck the patriarchy; hi!...")
It's very bad when all 2000-odd Democratic candidates every cycle can freely text everyone in the country who donated even a single dollar sometime in the past, without consent or consequence.
The commons are being destroyed to extract an additional marginal dollar.
This contretemps has been going on nigh a decade now. It's time for closure.
If I ever run into that damned Needle in a bar, there will be a donnybrook. A genuine donnybrook!
What's the red line for the military in terms of illegal orders? Where do you think they'd actually say no en masse, and what does that look like?

Some personal news...

This one was way easier to write than last year's. (Fingers crossed I don't have to do this again for quite a while.)
As a native masshole, I can say with confidence that if there's one state I wouldn't put it past, it's Rhode Island.
Nothing like finally wrapping up another 10+ hour shift in the data mines, then calling an Uber to go out for the evening, only to wind up with a driver who's listening to an hour-long NPR for on agentic AI.
As if "obvious flaws as a politician and as a human" is remotely disqualifying anymore?
Plane flight path that diverted at the last minute
Another diverted flight
Aborted landing flight path
Crazy flight path away from Logan
Air traffic control issues in Boston are getting wild. Per @flightradar24.com lots are getting diverted, including at least two that had to abort landings at the last minute.
Ever think of restarting the War Stories podcast?
I would also suggest Sam Waterston as a consensus pick.
Standing in a big crowd at the Boston no kings protest
Feels very Boston to have arrived at the protest an hour behind schedule because of @mbta.com shenanigans, but we made it in the end. Kind of shocked they couldn't get @dropkickmurphys.com to show up though - maybe next time boys?
My over-under on this episode is 12 hours
(seriously, this model is OpenAI's cyber truck - an embarrassing failure from what had been a respectable brand, but hyped so hard they can't walk it back)
GPT-5 really makes me miss Clippy.
Yeah that all checks out. Even get why @drewmagary.bsky.social didn't write it himself - we're so bad we don't even deserve another of these until we get our shit together.
And... now it's paywalled AND not even written by Drew. Well, f me.
The Patriots one is always excellent too (though these days, just kinda sad)
also, using it for what is good at rather than what people want it to do but isn't good at
What I'd really be curious to know as a follow-up: how much the performance of fine-tuned models varies on each? That's an area where I could see substantial differences existing between providers that aren't obvious until you've tried them all.
The powers of the imperial presidency have to be placed into a tin box and lowered into the ground, and that ground needs to be covered with concrete and sealed inside the Chernobyl sarcophagus. Enough.
