Oh time flies - my very first student @lydiaruggles.bsky.social graduated yesterday! I am so proud of her & her work (stay tuned for a preprint very soon!!). Also proud to wear @oistedu.bsky.social regalia for the first time (graduated spring 2020…), esp. the custom Yuntanza Minsa hood ❤️ 🌊 #microsky
Love a super productive day in the lab!
My first conference was a GRC. Many years later, I am elated to be at another GRC with my first student @lydiaruggles.bsky.social presenting her first poster. Proud new PI here ☺️☺️☺️ #microbialsky #marinemicrobes
If anyone wants to send me science stickers, I’d happily take them. (I don’t have an obsession or anything😅)
Thanks @margaretbrisbin.bsky.social for a great Memorial Day cookout for the MICOlab! Gnasher is obviously our lab manager giving orders😅

Large group of people posing outside in a screened patio with presents for the White Elephant gift exchange in front of them. Many wearing holiday antlers/outfits. Two cute dogs too!
Fantastic lab holiday party today - and so happy to have 2 new micro/molecular/phytoplankton lab groups to celebrate with this year! @margaretbrisbin.bsky.social @bellathebiologist.bsky.social @lydiaruggles.bsky.social @microbusta.bsky.social
MICOlab lab meeting today was an end of semester wrap-up, look-back, and ginger-bread reef building competition!
Shoutout to @margaretbrisbin.bsky.social for being the coolest advisor who finds you pyrodinium socks for Christmas!
CMS PhD student Olivia Blondheim hosted an amazing outreach event at Weedon Island Preserve this weekend!! We had so much fun learning about vertical oyster gardens (VOGs) and making our own to contribute to Olivia's project and to hang at the community dock our family has access to.
So excited to be a part of USF college of marine science studying microbial interactions with Pyrodinium bahamense! #MICOLAB
