In some ways I enjoyed my experience working with the RSGB. But it’s all about the status quo and justifying adherence to many stratagems, many of which were self devised and sadly irrelevant.

Briefly considered but pulled my membership instead.

Just watched a replay of the RSGB AGM from Saturday. The pre-submitted questions saw more “forward defensive strokes” in the replies than in the nets the day before a test match. The words eel and slippery spring to mind…

It did ok. Next time? Depends on where I’m operating but I have plans for IOTA contest in July…

All search and pounce using either a Tarheel HF screwdriver antenna or mono band hamsticks. 21 hours from the car across the weekend.

WPX 561 Q’s 395k points .. need sleep

In the car “mobile” for WPX. About 13 hrs so far this weekend all search and pounce. Another 8-9 hours tonight. MIGHT get near to 650-700 QSOs and around 350-400k points. We shall see.

I see that ready made mono-band (LC circuit) end fed half waves retail for about £50. Don’t see any sold in kits for about £30? Wonder if there’s a gap there? Simple to make and when the sunspot cycle tanks in 2-3 years it’ll all be about efficiency over convenience.

People have done balloon antennas but I’m not sure if you’re allowed to go 260 odd feet high?
