Urbanist city council t-shirts remain undefeated as the wildly popular @aura-atx.org “Step Up For Single Stair” yellow proves 😂
Every politician in a housing constrained market should be making this exact point. Boomers love nostalgia- that’s the point of “Neighborhood Character”. But we can’t legally build those same homes anymore. And if you don’t want more of those classic buildings, then you really are just a NIMBY.
This project also includes sustainability upgrades like reduced impervious cover and improved water quality. Grateful to partner with Peace Lutheran Austin, HomeAid Austin, and Foundation for the Homeless. We’re committed to creating more family-centered housing across our community.

Taking public transit meant no traffic or parking stress— just great company, and a cleaner ride.
Big win for Austin housing today!
We just passed the Single Stair ordinance, allowing single-stairway designs in multi-family buildings.
Proud to co-sponsor this with my colleague, Council Member Chito Vela.

Great news! SB 840 passed out of the #txlege Senate today on a bipartisan vote. Excited to see underdeveloped and out dated commercial properties be revitalized across Texas!
Had a great time at the CNU-CTX Annual Luncheon discussing how we design cities for everyone—not just drivers. 🚶♀️🚲🚌
Honored to introduce Anna Zivarts, whose work on mobility equity and Week Without Driving challenges how we think about transportation.
The nightmare that awaits if YIMBYs successfully legalize townhouses!
