Huh. Well there's a solution that hadn't occurred to me, and I love it

begging y'all to get the fuck off substack. so many newsletter articles i'd love to read and can't.
the fact that legislators are trying to say that computers are devices that require id verification and tracking to use should put fear into EVERYONE. FIGHT AGAINST THIS.
I have a magic prosthetic leg in one part of the world that I've definitely written, but most of my disabilities that are visible in the two main stories are invisible ones like dyslexia/dyscalculia, asthma, autism, & then there is one with a disability left over from having a sickness as a child
goooood morning it is cool and overcast but I forgot my phone and I can’t prove it - so here’s a clip from yesterday (stay tuned past the chomp for the little goth odd squad that accompanies us most days; they fledged in our yard and know us well), so you know it’s a fact: Lucy Loved That Walk
I have a pretty large selection of limited edition dragon lino block prints at the moment for anyone looking for something small, unique and hand made :)
They're listed in order of production, so newest ones at the top, oldest (and usually lower stock) at the bottom

Of course fantasy and sci fi should be separated on the shelves, because what if there was cross-contamination and a dragon ended up on a spaceship, or what if a robot ended up in a tavern, or what if....? 👀👀👀 Just a sec... taking notes for my next wip...

AOC: “This is a threat of genocide & merits removal from office. The President’s mental faculties are collapsing & cannot be trusted.
To every individual in the President’s chain of command: You have a duty to refuse illegal orders. That includes carrying out this threat”
Hi all, its your friendly neighborhood retired therapist here to remind you that the horrors persist and so do we!
Have you:
-had a glass of water or something liquid that is not caffeinated recently?
-used any calming or grounding techniques you like?
-eaten a food?
If not, do that now. 💜
"No," the swordmaster said.
"One does not refuse the king," the herald said.
"I do. I will not train his soldiers or officers, I will not tell my students to join his army, I will not support his unjust war."
"You will regret this!"
"No," the swordmaster said.

That sounds less terrible than the cover texture I'm thinking of, thankies for answering!
what *is* the texture of the cover?
because I'm one of the folks who has to rip the cover off if it's one of those weird suede/velvet feeling covers - I think it's called "soft touch", but it feels like it leaves a film on my fingers that I can't wash off.
Be you, but also make it easy for folks who find you interesting to go click on this link and buy your book.
But unlike just spamming that one post over & over, you are now building an interesting spiral someone can go down to learn all sorts of different things about your book, hopefully with easy-to-click links all along the path.
Don't be self-conscious. Post in your usual shit-poster voice.
Reply a third time. A fourth time. Do it at different times/on different days. Make different content. Post reviews, post quotes, post inspiration, post interesting trivia. I don't care what you post. But keep posting.
Because when you post, the first post in your thread pops up at the top again.
So our first barrier on here is: one post can vanish into time zone oblivion. A lot of people won't see it. You need to repost it again, but spamming the same link over & over feels weird.
So next time you want to add to this promo, you go back and reply to the first post w/ new content + link.
The first post in this thread is important. It should have your best promotional image. (It should have alt text.) It could be the post you plan to pin. It should have EASY OBVIOUS LINKS that people can click to buy your book. That is vital, do not do not DO NOT skip the links.
Make it easy!!!
If you get self-conscious about posting repeated promo, let me give you all my long-standing promo-hack, for free. (I'm not currently using it, but I will be soon! lol)
This is a site without an algo, but also one that does not punish links. So what you want to do is make a strategic thread.
when we're all unable to connect to use the internet, send emails, pay our bills, use our toasters, and god knows what else if AWS goes down, i want you to know now that i blame our lack of antitrust laws far more than i'll blame a foreign missile

It's finally done, and she is so pretty
I have a theory that it's less to do with the platform and more to do with the firehose and inundation of bad news every time you log onto the internet.
I'm terminally online here.
I legitimately cannot look at my timeline right now because the news is so bad.
That is not exclusive to Bluesky.
I dunno if prologues and epilogues are part of the main story but I do know your publisher should pay you a separate fee and/or offer a contractually guaranteed budget if they expect you to market your own book because that’s not your job nor what your advance or royalties are for.
I dunno if prologues and epilogues are part of the main story but I do know you should know what basket accounting is, negotiate it out of your publishing contract, and demand separate accounting so your publisher has to pay your royalties out on each book in your deal individually.
Mags herself had actually already been keeping one hive, she takes him over to it & lifts the lid, showing off the happy hive. She explains that while yes, she can do the job, it's not one she particularly enjoys, so he's welcome to do it as long as he remembers to introduce the bees to everyone
He's surprised she expected it, but then she points out that any time he had the chance he'd spit out a bee fact, & when she considered that w/ his origin, she figured she'd better be prepared for him to ask if he could maybe see if the local bees would want a new home as soon as he saw the garden.
He's excited b/c *clearly* Mags & her daughters wouldn't mind him doing beekeeper things on the edge of the property b/c it would make their gardens stronger. He goes to ask Mags about it & she takes him by the arm to lead him to the place she's put all the supplies for him. She'd known he'd ask.
She's used to the newly added members of her extended family being nervous or timid around her due to who she is, but his excitement about possibly getting to still be a beekeeper overrode that so completely that it amused of all of her daughters & all of the older soulbonded partners.
Her youngest Daughter's soulbonded partner came from a family of beekeepers. He'd wanted to carry on the family trade, but his spark ignited so he had to train to be a Magi.
The 1st time he comes home w/ Agatha to the estate and sees the gardens, he gets *so excited* that he startles Mags at first
