I know it's easy for some to hate on Coachella for how influencer-drenched the 1st weekends have become. But man, I caught some of the livestream this weekend and so many artists put on amazing sets. At the end of the day, it's about the music that thousands of people get to share together.
I asked my phone "How did Hulk Hogan die?" And this is what it said. You heard it here first!
A lot of great insights and statistics in this report, the most interesting one to me is how Gen-Z-ers now watch more movies in theaters than millennials do.

On a related note, I could write an entire essay about how not having a choice in what music videos played led to me having a broader appreciate for all music genres. Compared to now where streaming/YouTube is so tailored, it can keep you in your own little cultural prison.
YouTube has been recently recommending me full MTV broadcasts from a few decades ago and...I'm kinda here for it? I used to go to sleep with MTV on so this is an unusual memory unlock that I didn't realize was there

Is it just me or did it seem like 90s movie soundtracks were much bigger/popular than movie soundtracks in the past 10, maybe even 20 years?
Man, another legend lost. Robert Duvall was a type of actor it feels like we don't see much on the big screen these days. He truly felt like a real person, every time.

Love it when I revisit a script I wrote 15 years ago that I thought was dead in the water - only to have a breakthrough idea that could totally revitalize it for today.
Craig Mazin continues his incredible run.
Chernobyl > The Last of Us > Baldur's Gate is quite the lineup

A lot of great winners from last night but I'm especially happy Bad Bunny got Album of the Year. "DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS" was one of my favorites of 2025 and it really deserves it.
We've truly lost a legend. What a life & career. Years after doing classics (Home Alone, Christopher Guest movies, etc.) she was still in her prime. She was my favorite part of "The Last of Us" Season 2, which she got an Emmy nom for (along with "The Studio"!).
R.I.P Catherine O'Hara
Classic
I was delighted with how good it was when I first saw it! Criminally underrated.
"I was born in 1601. I'm a vampire. I've been around forever." is probably my favorite movie line from 2025

It's always so funny when I have a 10th or 11th draft of something and think "hell yeah, this is like 95% perfect" and then a few months later, realize exactly why it needs a giant, huge overhaul.
ANOTHER EXAMPLE: Parasite.
(spoilers for a 5-year old movie to follow)
1st concept is "what if an entire poor family conned their way into working house jobs for a rich family?". That's the 1st half of the movie. Then it moves to "what if poor people were secretly living in a rich person's house?"
EXAMPLE: Jurassic Park. The concept of "what if we could clone dinosaurs?" is awesome! But what really makes it sing is combining it with "what if we had a theme park where you could see dinosaurs in person?". Now you've got something REALLY special (Yes, I know it was a book first)
The more I think about some of my favorite movies, the more I notice a pattern where they combine TWO story concepts in the runtime. Having 2 awesome concepts gives it fuel for 2 hours, so it doesn't peter out halfway through (which some movies, of course, can do).
"Kill Bill? OH, you mean that movie from Fortnite?"
Really great, in-depth read about philanthropy's current challenge in the modern world:

But now you have something to build from!
Congrats on getting another feature done! I completely empathize here, some of these are really tough things to crack. Getting it done in any shape/form is a big win
