So, frankly, try to remain excited that this is even happening to begin with. It's been 14 years since Stargate left the airwaves. Between Gero, Wright, and Mallozzi, we have something special en route. That it's shorter than it would've been back in the day can't truly take away from that.

The sad reality is that 10 was probably the upper limit for what we could expect from this. (And it's worth noting that Gero didn't fully commit to that number.) Most Amazon live-action fare gets eight-episode seasons now. Streaming changed the game, in some ways for the worse.

I'm seeing some disappointment from Stargate fans over Martin Gero telling Dial the Gate that he's working on "10 episodes" for Amazon's upcoming revival. Look, I get it; there's a strong argument to be made over the damage that shorter seasons have done to sci-fi.
