Both carrot and stick are necessary to nudge behavioural change.

Potholes are a problem for all. In Congleton, turn your ankle or be tipped out of your wheelchair when crossing the road in a gap in the traffic (we lack crossings). On cycles, you weave around serious craters. In rain we all gamble - just a wet surface or a major hole?
And no choice when on hols abroad because insurance companies stipulate helmets for cover for any type of injury while cycling. Or use the catchall for all activities: ‘recommended/appropriate safety equipment’. Even if not a legal requirement. Are those in Netherlands with helmets all tourists?
EU going to ban the huge U.S pickups from 2027.
Lots of good info here.
Time for every local authority, and indeed government, to assess the economic and societal cost of SUVs?. Most people don’t NEED them even if they want them. And do they want them or are there fewer non SUVs on the market? Are buyers swayed by advertising, fashion or claims of better safety?
Explains why us residents struggle with the simplest things. At least it’s not just us whose emails are ignored! What is the acting CEO doing to sort this out? Or is this within MPs’ remit? Suspect not. MPs make/amend laws. Who deals with local authoritie? @cheshire-east.bsky.social
Low traffic levels are a win for everyone. Frees up the roads for people who have no option but use a car, and helps those who would like to use the bus, walk, or cycle, or a mix of these.
Crash seems to becoming more commonly used than accident these days. More accurate.
A challenge for our shiny new mayor in 2027. Which candidates want to leave a legacy of sustainable travel choices in Cheshire & Warrington?
It’s behind a paywall but you get the gist. A grand vision for safer, healthier streets.
Reducing traffic enables more walking or cycling while freeing up space for buses and those, from need, locked into car dependency. We need policies for traffic reduction.
The question is why? Is it the subconscious motornormative mindset of judges? They can’t imagine life without a driving licence.
Exactly.
Please can we in CE learn from our neighbours?
Who's up for the challenge? More people cycling and walking means less traffic too, so win-win.
The policy doesn't mention 'reasonable efforts' to mitigate. So worth pursuing compliance with their own policy?
When is a trailing cable not a trailing cable? Hmm,
Is this lack of attribution due to legal constraints? Can't imply blame ahead of any court case?
Ah.
Oh no!
An electronic display of the timetable only. Not a live feed. So as the clock ticks by, the info is in the past. Meanwhile who knows where the bus is! Certainly not the electronics. bustimes.org is your friend.
Thus at a disadvantage, so in breach of their public sector equality duty. Needs pointing out?

Excellent presentation at last night’s @activetravelcaf.bsky.social by Kate of @wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk. The recording will appear here soon: activetravelcafe.org.uk/sessions
Persist! Use their policy about charging cables (as you did before). Use public sector duty of care and equality duty to pave the route. Soft surfaces discriminat.
Side zebras. The way forward? Wales has just agreed them, but turns out there are already some in London.
Exactly.
Result! Well done.
Thanks @cheshire-east.bsky.social and hope this releases funding to have a lot more of this in our area.
