Jewish trauma is real.

The Holocaust was real.

Antisemitism is real.

And none of that makes the genocide of the Palestinians and Lebanese any less real.

There should be a law passed, and enforced, that we will no longer have for profit prisons of any kind! Ever again! Incentivized incarceration should be a crime against humanity and should be retroactively enforced! They know what they are doing is wrong!

The Bike Lane Gender Gap: New Research Shows Women Ride More Where Protected Infrastructure Exists New research from New York City-based Transportation Alternatives highlights a persistent pattern in urban cycling.

NYC study shows men are 2.6x more likely than women to bike to work. When protected bike lane coverage is high, women’s cycling rates rise significantly faster than men’s.

When protected lanes are limited or fragmented, women’s participation drops sharply.

Good bike investments give women choices.

I am in Barcelona today to help unite progressive parties from around the world in a defense of democracy and a war against corruption. A first of its kind event. Necessary to beat back the forces of fascism.

On April 21st all the 27 EU leaders will vote on whether to suspend the EU's Free Trade agreement with Israel.

The EU HAS to stop its dealings with Israel who commits endless War Crimes.

Otherwise they are all as guilty as Israel.

Just to give a sense of the insane scale of billions of dollars…MacKenzie Scott got about $38 billion after divorcing Bezos in 2019. She has become the world’s most generous philanthropist, giving away over $19 billion…and she’s currently wealthier than she started.

Heat pumps are the most efficient heating technology ever invented.

They harvest and compress pre existing heat in the air, ground or water and transport it where it is needed.

That energy is all around us.

And it does not have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Nigel Farage says something idiotic.

BBC: “He’s got a point!”

Average British voter: “BBC is a high quality news source”

And so the world needs to keep blundering along while the UK helps to destroy our civilisation.

SUVs are making Britain’s potholes worse, say scientists Engineers link reduced lifespan of roads to shift to heavier cars, some bought to navigate damaged surfaces

The correct way to deal with this particular negative externaility is to tax SUV ownership so that the cost of fixing the damage is born by those who cause it, rather than everyone else.

Most Favoured Health Technology Assessment Reading Sean Sullivan and colleagues’ excellent explainer of the USA’s Most Favoured Nation pricing, I was struck by the degree to which the US has decided to base drug pricing on a basket of countries which make extensive use of health technology assessment and the Quality Adjusted Life Year.

One in an occasional series on HTA related themes.

Consciously provocative. US government payer policy will be 'flashing red' on corporate risk registers until all this generation of leaders have retired.

Hours after a ceasefire was announced, Israel launched over 100 strikes across Lebanon, killing more than 300 civilians and injuring over 1,000 in a matter of minutes. The scale of civilian harm is unacceptable.

Public service reform could alleviate that trend, said Jones, adding: "I do think that plays at least some part in tackling the rise of populist parties because we can show that when people need public services, they're there for them when they need them."

Darren Jones' message here on digital is very much giving off the McSweeney tetchy impatience I thought this govt had moved on from. You don't build trust by saying scathing things about public opinion and making implausible claims giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...

I do wonder, though, whether associated but arbitrary increases to threshold prices make it all just performative.

We've subsidised oil companies for decades as we "need" their products to run society, but now we dont, we need to use those same subsidies for heat pumps, EV's, solar panels, turbines, bio mass what ever else we can use to generate electric, it's only fair, we'd get to "net 0" real fast that way.

Cycling Linked to Lower Risk of Dementia, Study of Half a Million Finds Getting from A to B on a bicycle more often could reduce risk of dementia, possibly by protecting a part of the brain tied to memory functions, new research finds.

“Compared with non-active travelers, the cyclists had a 19% lower risk of all-cause dementia, a 22% lower risk of Alzheimer's, a 40% lower risk of young-onset dementia (before the age of 65), & a 17% lower risk of late-onset dementia.”
