Another death on a city-owned road, in an area with a lot of pedestrians and cyclists. Harding Place doesn't have sufficient sidewalks and zero cycling infrastructure. Within ~1mi there have been 2 ped deaths, 1 car death, and ~4 nonfatal ped crashes.

That original poster is missing this: respect for and knowledge of black culture doesn’t mean I should participate in making it or criticizing it myself. Black culture is too crucial & vibrant not to learn about. Knowledge of it doesn’t mean it’s mine—my understanding will always be as an outsider.
The eBook of Castle is only 99p right now.
Repost this for a chance to win a signed copy of the original hardback edition.

The infamous La Quinta that went without employees for an entire night, and had some
guests who couldn’t get checked in to their hotel room answering the front desk phone in the wee hours.

What’s the best thing you’ve had at the new place? Can’t wait to try it.
I think you’re on to something here! Yes!
You would get so many more amazing books if you had Universal Basic Income. Not even the most dream-scenario AI could compete with the creativity of a world of authors no longer afraid of affording rent.
This show kicks ass and I wish more people would watch it. Betty Gilpin is amazing and it has some of the most jaw dropping plot developments I’ve ever seen.
It made me realize how little I apparently understand about either city in spite of living in TN for 30 years (Nashville for 18 of those) and spending time in 3 totally different parts of the Atlanta metro starting in the 90s. This has kind of broken my brain.
More traffic calming everywhere! It’s the best! Also the number of bikers and folks on e-scooters has gone up considerably in conjunction with the traffic calming!
Car loving NIMBY types (aka old men) in my neighborhood made it seem like speed cushions were wildly unpopular— when actually they were extremely popular! People nearby that didn’t get the speed cushions & flex posts really want them because they see how cars speed up immediately on their streets
2 of the 6 schools are at the epicenter of the May 2025 ICE/THP traffic stops & abductions. If TN wants to know why schools are struggling, they should stop terrorizing the students. Also—guess how many charter schools are in these areas drawing teachers, students, families, bus drivers and $$ away.
"A new study out of Cornell Universit found workers most excited and impressed by corporate speak may be the least equipped to make effective, practical business decisions, and it can leave companies with dysfunctional leaders."
Also build the pools! And keep them open until Halloween!
Holy shit Tanner almost drained that shot! Oh my god!
HUSKERS LET’S GOOOOOOOO
Invent a chocolate bar!
Kid Scoop, with a pencil
In March 1993, a newspaper in Novato, CA held a contest for elementary school children to submit their ideas for candy bars, then ran a whole page to celebrate them, because as a society we used to value whimsy and creativity. Anywho, take a peek through this 🧵and see what they came up with!
People who see way more Cybertrucks on average, are fond of cold drinks in big ass styrofoam cups (okay in July-August that’s also me) & are ok spending the equivalent of liberal arts college tuition to send their kids to private school—plus now there’s an excellent discount from the Guv on that!
There are several little springs under our driveways that freak out the newbies in the neighborhood a few times a year (it looks like a broken water main) & Mill
Creek runs through here so that tracks. It seems wild to empty a reservoir and build houses on it? Like what are we doing here people.
Like I don’t even know about the Resha Lake/Dam that shows up on maps of my neighborhood. Or what Wrencoe was when it existed here? Was it a town? Just a railroad station and a post office?
Where should I start reading/researching as an amateur who wants to learn more about this neck of the woods, Hardscuffle, etc. The greenway by my neighborhood has a historical map and info about the Mayfield family, and we have many small cemeteries, plus the Mt Pisgah cemetery and church, too.
Jersey Mike’s? I know coffee is expensive, maybe this is a more affordable option, but a local coffee spot would’ve been better.
How about the Downtown Nashville Partnership sponsors a cute local coffee & tea kiosk with a buy a cup, give a cup to a neighbor in need arrangement?
lol yeah right
lol Nolensville looks as if it was designed by the cars in Pixar’s Cars movies. No infrastructure there is designed for humans unless said humans are inside of cars, parking cars, washing cars, or eating in cars. The children there making everyone nuts with their e-bikes is just so perfect.
Is there a market for Normal Volume Spas? No loud music or noise, but no people telling you to be quiet, either, as long as you’re not right next to the massage rooms. Maybe there are dedicated saunas for gossip and cackling far from the quiet saunas. Rage rooms next to the loud jetted pools? 🤔
In our defense this was a very large open spa with a big indoor pool constructed out of rock. It’s basically an echo chamber. Anyway, I’m still embarrassed that a probably 19 year old kid had to call me ma’am and shush me while I was paying to sit neck deep in freezing water.
Friends & I got reprimanded about five times by spa attendants at a fancy place in NC. We’d be stage whisper bellowing ©️ in the cold plunge pool, or while sitting under these very robust cascades in the waterfall pools. “I’m glad you’re enjoying yourselves, but please maintain a tranquil spa volume”
Bonkers that we don’t have pediatric urgent care clinics all over town & why in the world don’t we have lots of evening & weekend well-child/immunization clinics? My dream: “wellness” spas/chiropractic offices can only rent medical office space if there is already a peds urgent care in the vicinity
My school district is being forced to lay off several educators and a librarian because of a $500,000 budget gap, or roughly the amount spent on the war while I was typing this post.
