A split bar chart of YouGov polling data with the headline: "Americans are most likely to say T. Rex is their favorite dinosaur, but many don't have a favorite." The chart has the sub-headline: "Which of the following is your favorite dinosaur? (%)." The chart has the note: "Note: "Other" includes responses of archaeopteryx, spinosaurus, plesiosaur, ankylosaurus, allosaurus, parasaurolophus, dilophosaurus, diplodocus, iguanadon, and pachycephalosaurus, as well as responses of "other." We know pterodactyls and plesiosaurs aren't dinosaurs. Opinion about dinosaurs comes from the question, "How much do you like or dislike dinosaurs?""
A shocking new poll result: Many Americans somehow don't have a favorite dinosaur.
And only 6% give the correct answer (triceratops).

The Mariners have not lost to the Astros in 267 days, what a time to be alive
Leo, speaking to reporters on a flight to Algeria ahead of a 10-day tour of several African nations, said: “I have no fear of the Trump administration, or speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do.” Asked directly about Mr. Trump’s comments on Truth Social, Leo said: “It’s ironic — the name of the site itself. Say no more.”

Hey I once managed to make a sponge cake with roughly the texture of the foam fake blackberry I had as a toddler. It happens to the best of us
They matter to me because they make me sad to look at
I think they’ll go 4-12 before winning, thereby denying us both the joy of winning and the grim satisfaction of sucking in a new and exciting way. That’s the Mariners promise
I am sending a copy of this letter to the Honorable George Wallacd, Governor of Alabama, who I prarefully hope will be our next President. Senator Hatfield: I'm not a racist because I believe: I will not live among negroes. (My U.S. Civil Rights) I will not work among negroes. (My U.S. Civil Rights) I will not have my school children involved with any negro involvement. (My U. S. Civil Rights) I will not permit School District # to bus negro students into our neighborhood schools. (My U.S. Civil Rights) Their could never be a greater time in your political carear, then now, to have the Oregon State Supreme Court rule un-constitutional the civil rights at before the blood-shed commences. We white folks now have our Civil Rights being violated. A Concerned Oregonian E happell, Jr. 6506 S. E. 21st Ave. Portlandy Ore. 97202 BEC/he Gov. Wallace
One of the best "I'm not a racist" letters I've encountered. This one was sent to Oregon Gov. Mark Hatfield, an advocate for the 1964 Civil Rights Act that was under consideration at the time this letter was sent to him.
The Trump administration feels like the spiritual descendant of this fella.
🔱 AHOY, SAILORS! 🔱

Update:
- Me watching the Mariners
With all the world and politics making me miserable it's nice to take a break and be miserable because of the Seattle Mariners instead
Well even then I believe the punishments for such crimes are quite excessive. I believe in redemption. I believe people are worth more than the one (or even several) bad thing they did. I don't believe extremely long prison sentences make sense in all but a tiny handful of cases.
So if the cops or prosecutors violate someone's rights, I want them to pay for it. I want them to pay for it even if it benefits somebody who is guilty as hell, because enforcing those rights protects everyone from the tyranny of the state.
Good morning! All day today my colleagues and I will be on STRIKE. You can help us send a message! Please do not visit ProPublica's website and tell management to give us a fair contract so we can get back to work: actionnetwork.org/petitions/te...
The short version as I recall from three years ago being: even in cases of the worst people in US history (and our foreign policy has sucked before this) nuclear weapons have such an instant emotional ick that they’re off the table. disconnected from strategic thinking about them.
The Wikipedia article is not a good summary but I think it’s worth reading some of the book if this stuff keeps you up—I do not consider myself an optimist but it’s talked me into thinking it’s basically a nonissue
If you want to get into the theory I keep telling everyone about Nina Tannenwald on the Nuclear Taboo. She has an argument grounded in real historical examples about how nuclear weapons took on a taboo quality beyond their actual physical effects.
It's weirder when you first became aware of politics in about 2015. If you're in my generation, this is all there's been.
I despise that man.
I know it's not in vogue but I still believe that making moral arguments is good.
"Knowingly and willfully, Your Honor!"
When I think of things that I've loved, it tends to be off of characters. The Expanse series is a good example of that for me. If I'm interested enough in the answer to a mystery, I'll keep going to the end of something I otherwise disliked. I'm also always looking for non-romance period drama
Oo! I think I'm a challenge. The only series I remember really liking was Apothecary Diaries. Everything else I've tried I just bounced off. I tend to like science fiction more than fantasy. I love mysteries and heist movies for the scene where all the pieces come together.
...sure feels weird to do anything *but* doomscroll rn, but I have no choice.
