I think Obama doing an event with Mamdani is a big deal and it gives me some hope.

With an invisible disability, it's awful. Packed, hot and as a shortie, often nothing to hold onto. And doing that for 30-45 minutes, walking to the bus and then standing to wait for it is really difficult. I need to sit but people won't get up if I ask. I hate having to divulge my condition.

It's absolutely wild to me that some people are suggesting Ubering to the train station on a daily basis as if that is at all affordable on top of the commute. Parking at MacArthur and Rockridge is about $6.50 a day. Imagine dropping $20+ daily to get the train. Some folks hate the working class.

And I don't have a job with ample parking either. We need more shuttles to BART stations as well as parking garages at them.

Yeah there is a transbay bus near my place and it's great for getting to work despite that taking over an hour. But because I transfer in the city to another bus, the scheduling is not as aligned and it takes me sometimes two hours to get home and then I have to scale the hill to get to my place.

I've already gone from using West Oakland to Lake Merritt and then Lake Merritt to MacArthur and now I'll have to make Rockridge my station, hoping that won't fill up.

Why not build parking garages? Even the one at MacArthur is near capacity. Don't get me started on how hard it is to get from the lot to the platform at MacArthur when you're disabled. It's a hike in a wind tunnel.

If it takes 1.5 hrs to commute from Berkeley or Oakland, why live here? Families will move further out where housing is bigger and cheaper and just drive. This means even fewer riders on trains= less revenue.

With AC Transit and MUNI reducing service this will make commutes even worse while employers are making people return to offices. And not everyone works downtown! Not everyone lives near a bus that transfers to BART.

I'm all for reducing traffic but don't think using BART parking for small units of housing is going 2 solve that or their budgetary woes long term.

We don't have enough choices 4 transit in a lower density area 2 move away from cars en masse.

What about disabled folks? Commutes will lengthen.

This OG Bomberman was such a Drum & Bass banger back in the day. Just popped into my head today.

People keep asking me if I watch The Pitt.

My tv watching practice is this: if this is a show featuring people going to work and it's A) not funny or B) not foreign, I'm not interested.

I already go to work in real life. I don't want to go to work with fictional characters.

What was up with the ubiquity of saxophones in 80's music?

I can't recommend doing your taxes as soon as you get your documents enough. I used to wait until the beginning of April and it's so much less stress to just get it over with. If you're getting a return, you get your money faster as well.

April 15th barely registers for me.

I work at a Jesuit school and this would never happen there. We get emails from church leadership but there is no indoctrination or public prayer. Proselytizing would get you a lovely meeting with HR.

On my list of all time favorites. About every two years, I make a big bowl of pasta, pour a glass of red wine and watch this.

It's so good you forget it's actually a rom com. Olympia Dukakis is amazing. This solidified my love of Cher as an actor.

Trump Catholics can't possibly be the same group who called for the blacklisting of Sinead O' Connor, right?

Banned Books List 2025 What books are banned in 2025? Thousands of titles have been removed from public schools across the country.

It's pathetic that even now, schools are still banning "A Clockwork Orange." I read it in high school and it changed my life. I dove deeply into examining what it means to be a human being. Maybe that's what they are afraid of. pen.org/banned-books...

When 2 progressive WoC faced recalls in Oakland/AlCo, Swalwell felt just fine using racist dog whistles to malign Oakland. These women were recalled despite still not being charged with anything.

Chickens coming home to roost. He would've done nothing for Oakland as Gov. Racists are also sexists.

Folks out here defending someone accused of SA like California doesn't have a glut of other Dems running for governor. I'm sorry if the woman, the other white man and the Latinos aren't good enough for you and women's bodily autonomy gets a pass.

Thanks for letting me know to block you!

Never liked Sublime. One day maybe we will discuss the problematic phenomenon of white, male reggae fans. Pot smoking proto-fascists under the guise of libertarianism.

I just want to note that the strategy of using language to attract any demographic that isn't white men is considered divisive and DEI, so I find these conclusions EXTREMELY PROBLEMATIC.

This quote tho!

"Stevenson believes it's because men are more likely than women to have an identity tied to a particular occupation, making it harder for them to find work outside that field, much less in one dominated by women."

It is not harder, they just refuse to apply for these jobs!
