The 2026 equivalent of moving an image slightly in a word document and destroying the formatting is asking an AI tool to make a small adjustment to the thing it just did.

“You liked the design I just made but want to add a button over here? Here’s a whole new design.”

Grok Can't Apologize. Grok Isn't Sentient. So Why Do Headlines Keep Saying It Did? Elon Musk’s chatbot has been “undressing” women and children in public. Journalists are letting xAI off the hook by pretending the bot is responsible.

I wrote about Grok's CSAM problem and how journalists keep fumbling the story

When I travel to Japan for work I need to get pre-authorization for my ADHD meds, and it’s always a bit nerve-wracking to send emails to the Narcotics Control Department of any country, but they are so nice it almost makes up for the anxiety of having to claim you have drugs on your customs form.

Note for my library peeps: I know ADE is still required for a lot of library lending, but please stop using ADE to read, there are so many amazing options out there, I promise EPUB is actually really great and renders beautifully in the places that care about it.

I can say this now because I don't "work" in publishing anymore, or for a reading system.

If you're basing your opinion of EPUB3 on how it works in ADE, please stop. "EPUB3 isn't well supported", it is in every reading system being actively maintained, ADE is dead, please stop using it!!!

Information needed to answer Survey on the usage of HTML syntax in EPUB - Web-Based Straw-poll and Balloting System

If you make EPUB documents, or build tools for EPUBs, do you think EPUBs should continue requiring the XML syntax for HTML? Tell W3C what you think by filling the simple survey by the W3C Publishing Maintenance Working Group. 4 questions, responses anonymized:

Is there going to be information on the UI appearance when different accessibility settings are turned on? Like reduce transparency, increase contrast?

10 months ago 0 0 0 0

I would imagine that the existing accessibility menu features for reduce transparency and increase contrast will resolve a lot of issues (even if it just makes things opaque/flat), but I really wish they had shown that they’d considered those use cases in the design.

I fear the Apple OS glass effect’s inaccessibility will be justified by the fact that iOS has accessibility features that reduce transparency and increase contrast, which of course don’t get mentioned in this announcement or any coverage I’ve seen so far. Such a missed opportunity.

I’ve been waking up earlier lately and eating before taking meds (vyvanse) because I struggled eating after taking them. The extra time means I can usually make something nice like eggs and toast, which has helped! My other go to is a smoothie with protein powder and fruit.

New favourite election ad might be the conservative one featuring two older gentlemen playing golf, talking about how hard it is for their kids, so obviously they need to vote conservative. Feels like a redundant ad considering “middle-aged man playing golf” is like their key demographic.

With the EAA deadline weeks away and many non-EU businesses failing to realize they are probably obligated to comply, I know this is going to bite them. It sucks that it’s not the morality that will motivate them to change course.

Voting in provincial elections

Just a reminder to any Ontario resident that has a problem getting to the polls or won’t be available to vote in person.

You can vote by mail and your vote is Very important. Share this link far and wide. www.elections.on.ca/en/voting-in.... #CripTheVote #CripTheVoteON

A thing they don’t warn you about when you get into accessibility is how often you are going to get asked about accessibility legislation, and be expected to answer intelligently. Starting to think I may qualify for an honorary law degree.

I don’t even understand how they don’t have the right address considering I have updated my drivers license, health card, etc in the last 2 years. I forgot the provincial ministry of finance existed, how would I even check my address 😂.

For my fellow Ontarians, just a funny FYI that if you haven’t yet received your Doug Ford bribe check in the mail (because we are still mailing checks in 2025), its possible they sent it to the wrong address. I moved 2.5 years ago and they sent it to my old apartment!

It is my unshakable belief that whoever invented Clickup did so after overhearing someone else describe project management software badly in a noisy bar, took that description and turned it into a software product.

When I heard this segment on the podcast during my commute this morning I was thinking my worlds can’t possibly collide in this way, but to my delight it was true 😂. Congrats on being Lateral famous!

My setup runs off my monitor instead of my MBP. It’s been a lot more manageable, especially because I switch between computers a lot! One hub connected to the monitor with my peripherals, one thunderbolt for the Macs and an HDMI for PC. Need to switch fully to USBC soon, currently using adapters.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of books, sites, and courses I recommend for those new to digital accessibility or those already in the field who seek to continue their education. These are the resources I constantly use to further my understanding and knowledge

Broad Band by Claire L Evans, it’s not specifically on just browsers but there are chapters that cover the early history and they are fascinating!

This is so helpful to know! I feel like I need a cross-platform accessibility glossary some days 😂.

I am sorry this is happening, no one deserves this treatment. I don’t understand how everyone in media seemingly forgot why he was suspended and dropped by the Edge, did they think he had some magical revelation or personality change since?

As promised after my talk at a11yTO, I wrote something about my thoughts on training and why it’s not the solution many thought it was (or think it is!). This is also the accidental soft launch of my blog so please be gentle, but tell me if there are any issues! www.reidmore.online/post/accessi...
