Director of Visual Development Andy Park was laid off it has been announced. Andy was key to the success of the #MCU and his removal will be felt. Transiting to a work for hire model will save money but not improvement the films and is short sighted.

Buzz Lightyear at Disneyland will likely get a version of the game system recently installed in the #MagicKingdom. No likely change to the vehicle transfer corridor since this is the only way to off stage and out of the building.
In the lobby of the Tam O’ Shanter hangs this photo of Walt and Company. The Tam is six minutes by car from Disney Imagineering and 12 from Disney Studios in Burbank.
If you ask guests dining at Tam O’ Shanter might be seated at Walt’s table. For the record the glasses are modern.
Never achieved but still intriguing is this version of World Showcase. A mix of Future World and WS. Note ‘Tam O’ Shanter’ is the name on the restaurant which was a Walt & gang watering hole still open in Glendale.
This 1960 Disneyland promoted the park as “your greatest family value”, and listed everything that was new. Plus a mention that the park was a great place for a date. When was the last time we saw this type of marketing?
Epcot’s ‘fun map’ was drawn in a different style than the map for the Magic Kingdom. Flatter in angle featuring bright colors it presented a different type of Disney Park.
Early Epcot had peak graphics and I will not accept any discussion. Reflection of the 1980s style with careful use of non digital classic tools.
Thought exercise: could a 1,460ish capacity water ride fit behind Pixar Pier? Epcot’s Mexico pavilion does! Coco will be different but Mexico points to the likely footprint. More on YouTube.com/jimhshull
Thanks to California State Polytechnic University, TEA and the Cal Poly Autodesk Student Club for having me speak today. A lively discussion and great questions from the next generation of leaders. More on YouTube.com/jimhshull
#TokyoDisneyland when it opened was surrounded by open land which is not the situation today. To grow TDL resort needs land so is now the time to reclaim more of Tokyo Bay?
The train defines the edge of early Disneyland. Later the subs, monorail, motor boats, extended Autopia would fill the space. Same as happening at #DCA which I’m following at YouTube.com/jimhshull
Even through an arm fracture working a Disneyland project I still like construction. Marty Sklar signed my arm cast which counts as part of the reason. Image of tea cup installation.
Construction images of #Disneyland are instructive. During work on New Tomorrowland walls were up and park guests were directed around work sites.
The California version can be ‘awash’ in detail however. Also the water treatment facility will have to be built which is a cost that Zootopia would not bear.
That is not the cone of shame. Kitty came back from her veterinarian wearing the latest in Spring wear. Nothing about #Tabbycats on YouTube.com/jimhshull. Only Disney Parks.
The “Dumbo” in the room since #Disneyland announced #Avatar would be coming to #DCA in the #Hollywoodland district, then where is the monorail? I know the ocean is fake, but the monorail is real. Where is it?
In a recent article @bmacdonald posts that DCA #Avatar will rival the scope of Avatar in #AnimalKingdom. The DCA version doesn’t have the same amount of available land as AK. Counting for the show bldg, monorail, & etc.
The theater under construction at #HongKongDisneyland is nice, however taking that land means #ToyStoryMania isn’t gonna happen. HKDL is among my favorite Disney Parks, but it is land limited. More on YouTube.com/jimhshull for a video about the park & its history.
As a #Imagineer I’d look for a ‘hook’ when creating a ride story & vehicle design. ‘La-Haut’ has two ‘hooks’ in this image alone.
‘La-Haut’ is represented in the Canal Boat ride. It replaced the American fairy tale ‘Wizard of Oz’. Gone now which is a shame. I was the Creative Designer for Canal Boats and Casey while at #WDI More memories on YouTube.com/jimhshull
If #DCA builds #Avatar there isn’t land to build what was built in #AnimalKingdom. And if you can’t do it right then don’t build Avatar at all. More on Disneyland Forward and DCA expansion at YouTube.com./jimhshull
Missed opportunity for the standard swing ride coming to #DisneyAdventureWorld. No one knows the scout knock off. They know La-Haut, but the name isn’t part of the ride. Go fun up the ride-it’s too serious as designed.
Due to the continuing situation in the region it’s likely that #AbuDhabi and #Disneyland will be delayed for several years. Doesn’t mean the idea is abandoned, just delayed. Following this story on YouTube.com/jimhshull
Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! and Hollywood Lounge, a quick-service dining counter have been issued demolition permits. This clearing is prior to building #Zootopia (most popular ride at #ShanghaiDisneyland) or #Avatar.
34 years ago. I was a young Imagineer and traveled to help open Euro Disneyland. I cleaned dirty glass and installed last minute graphics. And drove my car on Main Street.
34 years ago. I was a young Imagineer and traveled to help open Euro Disneyland planning to stay 10 days but stayed 4 months. Imagineers wore layers of clothes and I got to be an expert recognizing friends and co workers by just their eyes. #DisneylandParis

Disney Studio Parks briefly became the popular trend at Disney, earning the designation of "favor of the month.” Watch to discover the reasons behind their eventual decline and disappearance.
1950s Southern California was a smaller canvas for play and #Knotts Berry Farm was a big deal. This brochure from Knotts does mention the new park down the road.
Image of first support columns for the #MonstersInc coaster coming to #Disneyworld. Suspended coasters have a lot more structure than other coaster types. Soon this will be a bowl of steel spaghetti. Credit: @bioreconstruct
