I have a major surgery (brain and sinus tumor removal) scheduled for next week, and I’m more worried about world events at this point.

If the world changes for the worst, I just want to say thanks to all that I have met and interacted with here. For all its issues, Bluesky has kept me sane.

Big Bear Bald Eagle Live Nest - Cam 1 YouTube video by FOBBV CAM

This is a live cam monitoring a pair of eagles that have two tiny little eaglets. Little grey puffs. There’s still some good things in this world.

This asshole was already blocked by me so there must have been some prior bullshit going on.

I was driving my CJ-7 back from work, listening to the local college station. They played “Smells like Teen Spirit” and I was absolutely blown away.

Back in the day, college radio along with tape trading and zines was how we kept up with new music. Good times

Yeah I don’t know if I’m just imagining things but this winter and spring have been completely nuts.

I blame it on Skilling retiring 🙂

But unfortunately it’s gotta be related to climate change. Not looking forward to the many 100 degree days in our future

The detail on that is beautiful

Yet more severe weather in Chicago. I get that it’s April and all, but the weekly high winds, hail, and torrential downpours are getting kind of old.

And both dogs are terrified of the thunder.

I absolutely saw this live, it was on CNN, and some local network broadcast stations simulcasted it.

Also, there was “cable in the classroom”, and the whole teacher in space thing meant we all watched it.

Lastly, who gets into the replies and starts trouble like this?

Blocked and forgotten.

He was on WBEZ this morning spouting the same bullshit

I remember when I was a kid we had the dispenser attached to the side of the medicine cabinet that held those tiny little Dixie cups.

Great movie, also.

I was in typing class and they wheeled the big tv in and we watched it in real time.

Senior year in high school.

I can’t remember many specifics about that day, but I could not watch that launch this afternoon. I’m glad they got off the ground, let’s hope they have a safe return.

It seems like it should be like 10 years ago, but my body is telling me something very different.

The past couple months feel like 20 years though. 🤷‍♀️

This will be at Spirit Halloween in a few months.

They are probably already producing them right now.

Even though she kind of wants to be invisible as of late, I just wanted to put out into the universe how proud I am of my daughter’s courage and strength in the face of bullies at her school, as well as the shit she sees on a national level. Trans women are at risk of harm every day. ❤️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️

It was here and gone in an hour, but allegedly there will be a part 2 later. Hopefully no damage when I check things in the morning.

Best of luck!

Yep this is the new normal weather in Chicago now. Weekly hail storms.

Those were the days when they told you to not make or take phone calls so you didn't get a lightning strike through the ear.

Those days are gone, but I sure do miss the very satisfying feeling when you slammed the handset down as hard as you could when ending an annoying phone call.

I’m on steroids to reduce some inflammation prior to my surgery in a couple weeks and let me tell you, “roid rage” is real, lol.

But I don’t want to fight you, you are a good person.

Those people not wearing masks at the cancer clinic? Yeah this old man is ready to cause trouble!! 🙂

I did make a point to thank the one person who sat nearby wearing a mask.

There are numerous boxes of masks, hand sanitizer, etc. available.

Dumb immunocompromised assholes and their support people in the waiting area at a cancer center to get treatment.

Dumb immunocompromised assholes and their support people in the waiting area at a cancer center to get treatment.

Hey, awesome!

Bunch of dumb fucks at an infusion clinic at a cancer center. No doubt more than a few immunocompromised.

People coughing like they have TB. Not covering their mouths. And if they are, they are touching the furniture, doors, etc.

Fuck these people.

WNBA Players Had an Ace Up Their Sleeve in Pay Negotiations: A Nobel Laureate Harvard economist Claudia Goldin helped WNBA players win a nearly 400% raise. Starting this season, players’ average salary will top $580,000.

After Claudia Goldin became the first woman to win a solo Nobel in economics, she got hundreds of invitations.

She accepted three.

One was advising WNBA players on a labor deal. She helped players land the biggest % raise in US sports history.
