Wow. SCOTUSās āshadow docketā was first established to stop the Clean Power Plan.
Itās remarkable how many assaults on democracy, or at least on established process, over the last decade have served to protect fossil-fuel interests from the energy transition.

How should NY state and/or the federal government step up to support @mayor.nyc.gov (and other municipalities wanting to address the home insurance crisis)? @cplusc.bsky.social's Housing Resilience Agency proposal provides a blueprint: climateandcommunity.org/research/pro...
So cool that @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social gets we need public insurers of FIRST resort, not last resort. Such a creative and high-impact plan. The state &/or federal government must also step up on confronting disaster risk, cuz a city-even NYC-can't do that alone.

ā¼ļø 55% of voters want politicians to address the climate crisis and cost of living through coordinated policies.
Extreme weather is driving up the cost of food, electricity, and home insurance. Tech barons & fossil fuel execs are exploiting communities.

Before I became an American, I was Lebanese. Parts of my family live in Lebanon.
Anyway, you don't need those bona fides to feel this way, but what is happening in Lebanon right now is a complete outrage. The people there, who mostly are just trying to carve out a living, don't deserve this.
Trump statement threatening Iran to open Strait of Hormuz
This is a horrifying threat of genocidal war crimes. The lives of civilians and service members alike are at stake here.
Congress must stop this war and remove Trump from the White House.
LA is a sanctuary city. Weāve made it clear that we donāt want our resources going to collaborate with a rogue, dangerous agency like ICE. There are too many risks involved in remaining partnered with a company thatās part of such a vast national surveillance network.
Pretty compelling essay from Daniel Biss in The Nation, in which he reiterates his support for
-The Block The Bombs Act (strongest arms embargo on Israel legislation ever unveiled in Congress).
-Unilateral recognition of the State of Palestine.
-Naming and shaming AIPAC intervention in elections.

It's Trans Day of Visibility and I wrote about how visibility without protection is a trap, and it often seems like the loudest calls for us to be visible are coming from those who have done nothing to protect us.

The human costs of the US war on Iran steals the future of Iranians in terms of their lives- in time they would otherwise live if not for US bombs.

Democrats enabling the Republicans to keep funding the CBP would be betrayal to the people of Minneapolis and all those cities around the country that experienced their so called "surge" in 2025.
Israel is distinctly unpopular with the Democratic base and pretty unpopular with independents. this should help clarify that Newsom isnāt trying to move away from *unpopular* lefty positions, heās trying to abandon the left entirely
Fossil fuel price shocks are redistribution shocks.
Last time, we warned windfall profits would benefit the ultra-rich at the expense of everyone else.
This time, there is no excuse. The numbers are in. We need windfall profit taxes & multilateral price caps now.
Living in Scandinavia, I find myself morbidly fascinated by American progressives' inability to understandāor acknowledgeāthat the secret to a healthy, functioning welfare state is broad middle-class buy-in. Everyone pays somethingāsome more than others; everyone gets somethingāsome more than others
Declaring that no quarter will be given is straightforwardly prohibited under international humanitarian law.
When done to threaten an adversary, the declaration itself amounts to a war crime.

Democrats should demand a clawback of ICE's remaining OBBB money before agreeing to supplemental Pentagon funding.
Climate change is driving dramatic changes that demand an honest assessment of risk and housing, but instead of proactively helping to reduce the risks, the insurance companies are penalizing poverty. This is unacceptable.
Here's our original report: climateandcommunity.org/research/pen...
The wild thing about this finding is that though the data greater insurer reliance on credit score than disaster risk for setting premiums, insurance companies tell us that our premium prices are supposed to be a clear message and incentive get us to reduce disaster risk. š¤
The @nytimes.com reports on how insurers use credit score in home insurance premium pricing. The piece draws on research from @cplusc.bsky.social & @consumerfed.bsky.social that found credit score was a greater indicator of high premium prices than disaster risk.

DORAL, FL ā White House Deputy Chief of Staff James Blair privately urged House Republicans on Tuesday to stop emphasizing "mass deportations" and instead focus their messaging on removing violent criminals, according to sources in the closed-door briefing.
This is one reason why we cannot "concede" on "the worst of the worst" framing. Defund the police, all the police, is the only way.
