‘The Godfather’ at 50: Robert Duvall Talks Razzing Marlon Brando On-Set, His Distaste For Multiple Takes, And Why He Passed On ‘Godfather III’ “I said, 'If you want to pay somebody twice what you pay me, fine, but not three and four and five times as much.' So it didn't work out.”

R.I.P., Robert Duvall. So glad I got to talk to him for Decider a few years ago. It was truly an honor and a privilege, and he was a super nice guy.

Joe, I saw this tour at Leeds Uni in 1977. Unsurprisingly it was great fun. Saw the Jam and the Clash there too within the year but tragically couldn’t get to the Ramones/Talking Heads tour as it was midweek, and the last bus back to Pontefract left at 10pm and I had school the next day.

Felt more like “Life During Wartime” by Talking Heads at the time.

The books - especially A Touch of Daniel - are utterly brilliant. A vanished Northern working-class life perfectly and hilariously captured.

It cannot be overstated how little of a shit the past Tory governments gave about:

a) people who live in the north

b) people who use public transport

and, above all:

c) people who live in the north and use public transport

Today is thst darkest of anniversaries, 13 years since I took a call from the desk asking me to check out a report that Gary Speed, the football hero, my friend, was dead. I’ll never forget that morning.
My thoughts are with those closest to him on this awful anniversary.
Talk to someone.

Andrew Haigh has put together this starter pack for those new to BlueSky. It’s a list of the usual suspects associated with Leeds United to get you started here.
