I've written two chapters so far. And well? I'm actually planning to restart the stream in like an hour and keep going.
As things stand, I have three chapters left.

Doing a writathon/editathon to finish my book by the end of the week, starting today. 5 or 6 chapters to go, then a whole lot of editing, and then I'mma go back and polish the first 8 chapters or so.
If you'd like to watch the number count go up, I'm live now.

So I was just laid off from Vicariously.
If you‘ve got an opening in PR/marketing and want to hire someone who does good work and has a family to support, I’m your guy.
Any reposts super appreciated.

Not "for."
I wish I could blame my phone, but not this time.
This. AI slop doesn't deserve anything more than a template email.
Bonus points if you don't fill it in:
"Dear [AI slop user],
"I have looked at [your game] and I am [grateful/flattered] that you reached out for me. Unforturnately, I can't support any game that uses AI because [you know why]."
Three new chapters of Recursed are available to read now.

When you need to focus on writing/editing but you don't want to kill your liver so you just put an empty vodka bottle next to you on the desk to summon the writing spirits.
Pun intended.

I don't know if it's the way it was implemented, or what, but I've decided that vim mode in Obsidian is like... slightly less comfortable for the actual writing process, but AMAZING for the editing process.
Thankfully, there's a plugin that lets you switch with a shortcut.
Kickstarter? God, I just need some work and money. Or a new career. Whatever it takes.
Definitely great news. Now I need you all to tell me if this is a good idea or if I'm just going insane from being without steady employment for too long.
I'm at the point where I'm like, "Regular work isn't doing it, and my novel won't make me any money. Might as well make an indie game!"
Oh well that's just GD nice!
Will I be the first person to make an idle game with proper superultrawide support? Perhaps.
Gonna test the limits of SVGs, too. There's a Godot plugin for SVG support around here somewhere. I know I was following the dev.
put up a message that says, "Want more story? Go read my book it's free oh dear God please would people just read it?
Okay, maybe without that last part.
I figure I can haul out my old web design skills, bring back skeuomorphism, and handle the UI myself.
At present, I am actually considering making it a mostly UI/text-heavy game. And like, if it makes some money, I'd totally hire an artist and do an overhaul.
And then, when the story is done...
Will I be able to execute on those ideas? Fuck knows.
Sus Squirrel-shaped Raccoon: More working ideas: Basic sales happen in the background. That's the idle part. While that happens, story-based events can pop up. Meeting various Heroes/Companions. Their stories change based on what specific items you stock and sell to them. Setbacks. Disasters. You may need to rebuild parts of your business which will be made more or less easy by what sort of monster/magical disaster insurance you have. Perhaps a Divine element. Mercanta, goddess of merchants and traders, tends to favor those who take risks, but a risk is still a risk.
Oh no. I'm having Ideas(TM).
A small part of me did think about Ren'Py for a moment, but you're right. Godot. And @yarnspinner.dev.
I've already got ideas for mechanics popping into my head.
Although... working idea... what if it was set in my Stalwart Companions universe. Kingsmount Shop Simulator, or something like that.
I have no idea what I need. I'll get back to you on that.
I want to write a story-heavy idle/clicker game. Who's in?
Well. That's a couple more job applications released into the wild.
Wish me luck.
I'm a prolific and versatile freelance/contract writer, for anyone who's interested. I've spent thirteen years writing about tech, gaming, open source, and other such things.
Listen y'all. I'm a pretty good writer. ~13 years of experience writing about general tech, gaming, FOSS, web design, and many other things... that's a solid reason to hire me.
The other reason is that I should be way too employed for stuff like this to happen. Save me. Make me work.
As a Mexican, may I recommend running a John Gringo?
You'd be doing Mexican meme culture a huge favor.
Just putting this out there again: are you, a game dev, putting a cult in your game? Want to go further than, "Wow, look at these crazy people?"
Hire me, an actual former cultist (born into it, not my idea) to consult, write, or both. Let's turn my trauma into cash, baby!

Joy in Everything Everywhere All at Once: "All we get are these little specks of time where all of this makes sense."
Me: "You get specks of time where things make sense?"
My wife: "Show off."
No but literally. They're going on about how they're using more AI tooling (not vine coding, but still) so I'm kind of expecting this to fuck my shit up until they work out some of the kinks.
