NEW EPISODE: Republicans know they’re on track to lose the 2026 midterms—and they’re trying to rig the election to stop it. I break down the Save America Act, the most sweeping voter suppression bill in a generation. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYsx...

The Rational League looks at the SAVE Act: “A political movement that insists on solving a problem the data cannot substantiate is not engaged in reform. It is redefining the electorate through procedural filtration…[and] structural barriers…the issue is not fraud prevention but power allocation.”
Maybe, just maybe, it's a bad idea that 20% of the Internet is behind Cloudflare? Just saying...
@stanmonitor.bsky.social Curious why @theophite is on the Bots, Scammers, Copypasta, Blank Accounts, Content Aggregator list? They were mentioned by someone I follow and seem like a real person.
A large telescope inside an observatory is pointed toward the night sky through an open dome. The scene is illuminated with a red light, casting a glow on the metal walls of the observatory. In the dark sky, the Moon is visible undergoing a total lunar eclipse, appearing dim and reddish. The telescope is an older, classic model with various attachments and mechanisms visible along its length.
Really cool to visit the inside of the observatory — and to view the moon through the telescope!
A dark night sky with a total lunar eclipse visible as a small reddish dot. The foreground features an observatory dome with its slit open, along with silhouettes of trees. The dim lighting and clear sky provide a striking view of the celestial event.
Perfect night last night for the total lunar eclipse, viewed at Northwestern University's Dearborn Observatory. Unfortunately, I forgot to charge my camera with 30x optical zoom, so these Pixel 9 Pro shots will have to do. The zoom on the telescope was much better in any case 😉
A red-bellied woodpecker clings to the side of a tree branch, surrounded by a network of bare branches. The bird has a distinctive red cap on its head, black-and-white patterned wings, and a pale underbelly. The background consists of blurred trees and branches without leaves. Sunlight casts a warm glow on the bird and tree, highlighting the textures of the bark.
Red-bellied woodpecker across the street — after having been scared away from our window feeder by our cat, Shirley 😅
That list adds people based on follows, and, in my experience, the list creator won't even tell you who it is you follow that they deem to be a problem. I am a strong supporter of trans and Palestinian rights, but apparently I follow someone who got me on that list anyway. Still don't know who.
As I was saying 🤦♂️
The show also undermines its own satire, inviting us to laugh at the awful rich people while simultaneously glamorizing their lifestyle via The White Lotus resorts. "Yes, so-and-so is awful, but doesn't this resort for the excessively wealthy look exquisite?"
Why I keep watching The White Lotus despite having never liked it, summed up in a single tweet 🙃
On one hand, everything about this subplot on The White Lotus is so utterly predictable and cliche (like most of the show). On the other hand, this scene was still satisfying because Leslie Bibb nailed a certain kind of unfortunately common Trump supporter.
Great overview: youtu.be/AUCTxxMPvWs?...
As one of those new people — as of today! — just keep being you. I found you while looking for videos about sunchokes, explored and enjoyed your videos on politics, and hope you'll continue being the whole person you are and not feeling like you need to cater to what people might "expect" 🙂
I don't think most people realize yet the degree to which the federal government has been compromised — from information systems to authoritarian sympathizers (if not actual foreign agents). Assuming we get the opportunity to fix this before it's too late, the task will be colossal.

Further, and perhaps even more relevant, the first attempt at a government failed and these guys were all 11 years older when they signed the US Constitution. The average age of those signatories was 45.
That's mostly due to child mortality. But the average age of Declaration of Independence signatories was 44. Fox is just cherry-picking data.
This is why Connelly isn't the right person for the job. Not bc he's wrong on procedure, but bc he and others don't grasp that Rs have no interest in oversight. Yes, we need to push for oversight, but THEN when it is inevitably blocked, we need leaders who will raise hell for the public to see.
It was never about promoting legal immigration. It has always been about nationalism, isolationism, and white supremacy.
@stanmonitor.bsky.social Seems this account was added to your bots list in error? bsky.app/profile/gina...
Just saw on clearsky.app that 55.83% of BlueSky users are blocked by someone. That's an absurdly high number, facilitated by these malicious and/or lazy blocklists.
Combine this with how easy bluesky makes it to follow in bulk thanks to starter packs — a great feature! — and it's clear that slandering people based on who they follow is a serious flaw in judgement.
I'm simultaneously on a "genocide enthusiasts" list and a list of supposed "watermelon" terrorists, all based on who I follow. Really highlights how flawed the idea is of block/mute lists based merely on follows. Naturally, neither even tell me who I'm following that they see as such a big problem.
Bsky is pretty great, but the moderation lists feature really needs some attention. Too many people using it to troll or encourage blocking/muting based on guilt-by-follow.
Which follows are the issue?
Hi, I seem to have been added to your transphobes and genocide enthusiasts list when I am decidedly and vocally against both of those things.
Been meaning to check it out but haven't had the chance yet. Thankfully, it is becoming a regular at either the Music Box or Alamo in Chicago 😂
Have I mentioned that Ed Zitron is one of my favorite technology commentators today?
Only if we have a SCOTUS willing to recognize that.
