Clean Cities' new research has found that car club parking tariffs in many London boroughs exceed the cost of private car permits. This should be the other way around - people need affordable, convenient alternatives if they're to move away from the private car. #AirPollution #ZeroEmission
We're supporting the Healthy Air For London Clean Air Commitment.
It’s time to act for clean air.
We’ve teamed up with 25+ organisations to call for bolder action on air pollution from London’s future councillors.
Check out healthyairlondon.co.uk to find out more and email your current councillors - or sign our pledge if you’re a candidate in London!
Thank you @sianberry.bsky.social for pushing on this. In opposition, the Labour Party promised us a #CleanAir Act to protect children’s health. Breathing clean air should be a human right. #EllasLaw
Our founder @jemimavivien.bsky.social spoke to BBC Radio London earlier about the consultation on solid fuel burning, which closes tomorrow.
"People would not be buying a log burner or running an open fire in their home if they understood what it did to their health, right?"

Today our Director of Programmes, Matt Towner, is giving evidence to the Environmental Audit Committee (EAC).
The EAC scrutinises the extent to which Government policies deliver environmental outcomes and has cross-departmental remit to assess whether Government is on track to meet its targets.
🗣️Today our colleagues at @impurbanhealth.bsky.social are giving evidence to the @commonseac.parliament.uk on how air pollution drives health inequalities – and what we believe fair, effective & equitable action looks like.

"Straight from the playbook of tobacco".
The Stove Industry Association has been pressuring councils to tone down their public health campaigns, telling them they were exploring options for potential legal action.
This stinks even more than the burning they promote. #WoodBurning #AirPollution
Image shows Sian Berry stood to the left of campaigner Rosamund Adoo-Kissi-Debrah, and surrounded by a group of clean air campaigners. All of them are smiling and holding a copy of Ella's Law - the Clean Air (Human Rights Bill).
Image shows Rosamund Adoo-Kiss-Debrah sat next to Sian with a copy of Ella's Law on the table in front of them. They are both reading the Bill that is named in memory of Rosamund's daughter Ella who died aged nine due to exposure to air pollution.
Ella’s Law has been published 👏
No child should have the growth of their lungs stunted because of dirty air where they live and play, yet this is the reality of air pollution in England. Ella’s Law would change this.
My thanks to Rosamund and all the hard-working campaigners demanding change.
One difference between RKM and the others is he isn't jumping and so it looks a bit more naughty as he clearly doesn't need to push to get elevation?

Southwark council is waiving parking fees for car clubs.
This is a *very* welcome first step from @jamesmcash.bsky.social and is the start of building a policy environment that supports car clubs in London.
We now need all boroughs to follow Southwark’s lead.

The focus now needs to be on delivery and fairness.
Whilst much of the UK is below new PM2.5 levels, most of London is not - more needs to be done to support people living in urban areas to breathe clean air.
Funding for clean air has been slashed - more investment is needed to support action.
It was positive to see the EIP published earlier this week.
Highlights include:
- Acknowledgement we need to focus on sources such as woodburning and freight
- EU alignment on PM2.5 targets
- Support for local authority AQ teams
- More data to build awareness and engagement with vulnerable groups
Today I joined @mayoroflondon.bsky.social at his second Clean Air and Health Summit, bringing together environment and health leaders, and government ministers, to help drive action to tackle toxic air pollution.
