A brilliant day on the doorsteps of Gorton & Denton, ending with a very special iftar with @greenpartyhan.bsky.social & the amazing canvassing teams @mcrgreenparty.bsky.social

We called for fair demand management, realistic expectations for alternative fuels, and stronger analysis of decarbonisation plans.
The Committee agrees: optimism isn't a strategy and evidence-based aviation policy must follow.

As they quote from our evidence submission:
“Current government support for aviation expansion is incompatible with the UK’s legally binding climate commitments.”
Happy to see this work being highlighted. You can read our evidence in full here: committees.parliament.uk/writtenevide...
The @commonseac.parliament.uk report released today concludes that current government support for airport expansion is incompatible with the UK’s climate and nature targets, and is based on claims of economic growth that lack substansive evidence.

Grateful to have contributed to this piece with Kevin. Airport expansion is a clear test of whether the UK is serious about its climate commitments. New airport capacity and meeting our carbon obligations simply do not align, and the costs fall hardest on those who fly least.
Gatwick expansion blows another huge hole in the UK Government's already perforated climate commitments.

When will Starmer learn that no matter how good his Nigel Farage impression gets, it won't save him from wipeout at the hands of Reform? Here's another idea - how about doing the work that's needed to actually make people's lives better? 🧵

Pleased to share a briefing I co-authored for @mpwatch.bsky.social on Sustainable Aviation Fuels. With the UK Gov backing Gatwick/Heathrow expansion and the 7th Carbon Budget just released, we need to be having honest conversations about aviation decarbonisation. www.mpwatch.org/blog/sustain...
