Some books endure! After 38 successful years, it seemed like "Scout" had earned a 2025 facelift. The story that's been delighting children for generations--and its 2017 sequel--is still available in all the usual places, including Amazon, Bookshop, B&N, etc. Links below.

Need a fun, unusual holiday gift for a kid with an #autistic sibling? Check out this debut novel based heavily on the author's experiences with his own brother. Intense, realistic, enjoyable! Great conversation starter for families with new diagnoses. B&N, Bookshop, or www.amazon.com/Signs-At-Fir...

Five years ago today. Here's #GSD Wylie, my very last service dog trainee... one of the real-life dogs behind the fictional story in my new book, "Shepherds of our Hearts." (www.amazon.com/Shepherds-Ou...). Shared with the owner's full approval--he loves for people to see his dog.
I’ve been saying that since his first regime. Once you’ve seen it, you recognize it.
Get ready mom and dad, grandma and grandpa.
“CBO late Tuesday said the legislation will increase the debt by $2.3 trillion over 10 years. That will trigger as much as $500 billion in Medicare cuts starting as soon as 2026.”
I guess allowing yourself to age is fraud and abuse too.
Just learned that my wife’s thesis advisor and my thesis advisor each had a book pulled from the Naval Academy Library last week. In their honor, please check out the list of books they banned, and go buy one of them! Lots of great titles to choose from! Pass it around.
Cover of the book titled "Shepherds of Our Hearts: canine champions among pioneer service dogs," by Julie Nye. This front cover shows seven dogs, a mix of German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, and one Collie.

Two sable German Shepherd puppies at about six weeks old.
A solid black German Shepherd puppy who's about 5 weeks old running straight toward the camera.
I need emergency #puppy pics. I don't see many, so I'm going to post some in hopes of priming the pump. 🐶 Meet some long-ago dogs from my past, all of which grew up to be service dogs: Rhythm & River (left) and Uno (right). Where are your pics?? 😀

📚Waiting for the proofs of a book you've been working on for 12 years.... 😳 😱 😬
In this current IRL dystopia, it feels weird (almost insignificant) to talk about "normal" stress. Yet normal is what we fight FOR & it can't be allowed to go away. Odd dichotomy. 😕

All of the above. With regularity!
Your photos, your stories, your music, your sketches, your dance moves, your fursuits/fursuiting.
All of it makes this life worth living. All of it makes this fandom bigger than the sum of its parts.
Don't ever talk yourself out of creating what you love because dammit, all of us love it too.
If you make art (any art! Not just visual), no matter how big your audience or if you think you're "successful" or "enough", you are giving people the energy to get through another day.
You're part of the reason folks have an easier time holding on.
Keep creating!! Your art matters!!!
Unsolicited writing advice, no. #1131333:
To those of you who are afraid, know this. Every act of creation is an act of courage. By making art, you are joining the fight. You are the resistance.

When that time comes, if you think of it, please tag me in a comment to the post? I spend so little time on here that it would be easy to miss.
If you do the blog post, I plan to send it to the author, who wouldn't listen to *me*. Maybe to you!!
I had to read a 70k word mss recently that was 100% present perfect. My brain still hurts. There's a new word in here somewhere. Sensi-tensive. In-tense-somnia. 🤔
😠😡🤬
I don't really consider this a cause for celebration, since (among other things) it worries for me how few books must be getting sold overall. 😩🤦♀️ But whether I hate it or love it, when a book zips in & out of that elusive #1 slot on strength of a handful of sales (or not) it's hard to ignore.
That first one. Seriously... could not publishers (big, small, self, indie... I don't care) do such a thing pretty easily? Or would scammers just co-opt it and destroy the value? Wish I could think of a realistic way actually to implement this.
I saw a block list of “trolls and climate deniers” that included at least one account who is seemingly neither of those things.
This happens by accident or perhaps due to misinterpreted sarcasm. Still, one “oops” is too many because that could always be me or you… which would really suck.
🚨📚🚨 If you have serious interest in #publishing, at all, whether as an author or a consumer of your preferred types of #books, please, please, PLEASE read this. Preferably memorize it, but a printout pinned to a wall where you'll see it every day would also be useful.
Small, blue flag with text "Marked Safe From any more holiday celebratios."
Just sayin... on behalf of the savage introverts among us. 🫣
