This includes my ongoing DGenerations series of observational oil paintings in which I represent Nintendo d-pads โฆ
As well as traditional research, I am also a practitioner who explores research ideas through creative practice in art and games. In recent weeks Iโve been experimenting with oils and acrylics to explore how traditional art media can be used to represent digital and technological memories of games.

Lastly, I also have interests in inclusion and inclusive practices within games, play, and production. I recently presented at the RNIB Inclusive Design for Sustainability conference on this topic.
For the past few years I have been involved in R&D in collaboration with industry and international partners, through the Dundee-based creative cluster InGAME. My focus here has covered experimental games, applied games, and transnational collaboration, e.g.
As a researcher I have many interests across game creation and the culture of games. My work tends to focus on nostalgia and cultural memory in games, both in terms of how society remembers gaming and how cultural and mediated memory is represented within games.
A little about me for the new community:
I am a Professor of Game Design & Culture at Abertay University in Scotland. Iโve been teaching games and computer arts for over 15 years, having previously worked in games both in art and in post-production. My PhD focused on game character animation.
