“AI as a Fascist Artifact”

tante.cc/2026/04/21/a...

> And here again “AI” shares a core idea of fascism: Both are based on the destruction of solidarity and labor power in order to cement the totalitarian control about the centers and sources of power.

For a second there it seemed like others would get it, like we would build accessibility in society, keep remote events, keep carbon emissions down, etc.

Then almost everyone rushed back into their regular lives when they *personally* felt no longer at risk. Not thinking if anyone was left behind.

The idea that people who take significant Covid precautions must be introverts is offensive as hell.
It’s ableist as hell. Performers, Organizers, the biggest extroverts in the world were forced to give up careers because other people wouldn’t mask. We do it because we still can’t afford COVID.

AI learns language from skewed sources. That could change how we humans speak – and think | Bruce Schneier Large language models aren’t trained on real-life conversations. As we encounter their language, it could affect our own

Well shit. It’s @adapalmer.bsky.social and Bruce Schneier on language and LLMs. So here’s today must read for me.

I guess they call job creep where existing employees are made to use AI to do things that aren't their job, increasing their work load so that someone new isn't hired, "interesting"

Unionized ProPublica staff are on strike over AI, layoffs, and wages A key issue is protections against layoffs from AI

New: 150 unionized ProPublica workers are on strike TODAY over AI, layoff protections, wages, and more.

They're asking readers to not visit ProPublica or engage with content on other platforms. It's the first work stoppage of its kind at the newsroom.

Between the Impossible and the Inevitable: The Case for Defiance (aka Never F**king Surrender) I have been hesitating to hit send on this one, because across the world we are all under the shadow of Trump's threat to commit war crimes that will "eradicate a whole civilization" in Iran while Ira...

Claims we have no power to impact what happens are nevertheless an intervention in what will happen, by discouraging participation, by encouraging passivity, surrender, acquiescence. If you insist that a given outcome is inevitable, you are lobbying against resistance.

I'm sure there will be no long-term consequences to all of us veering between hypervigilance over potential nuclear war and trying to go to work because none of us can afford to pay our bills and may still be trying to recover from health consequences from the pandemic we're pretending didn't happen

Whoa 🤯

The Moon, in full eclipse, with the #Artemis II Orion spacecraft. Part of the Moon and spacecraft are lit by Earthshine, and both Saturn and Mars are visible to the lower right. Incredible. Details: images.nasa.gov/details/art0...

Culture and arts workers deserve to be safe at work too, and we deserve safe access to leisure and entertainment. Musicians and others who work in crowded indoor spaces and who travel for work are at risk. Everyone deserves clean air to breathe so they can go to work without getting sick.

I think the world would be a better place if His Dark Materials had been the one that the millennials went fully gaga over and you’d have 35 yos trailing stuffed pine martens around with them on fishing line instead of wearing gryffindor scarves

Oh shoot, that just made something click. AI is claiming to handle all these simple things for people that we could all absolutely do before… maybe before starting to rely on AI, or maybe before covid left them with brain fog and memory problems. Maybe it’s more than just the learned helplessness 🫠

Art by flaroh illustration. March's illustration is of Artemis with her hounds in an ornate portrait scene. Ribbons embellish her bow, arrow, and dog's collars, and she wears a thin scarf at her neck, all of which blow away from the direction of the arrow's path. The palette is almost entirely blue, apart from her skin and the dog's collars, which are all peach.

You may want it to be over. You’re being told it’s over. Everyone is acting as if it’s over. You may ridicule people who are cautious and not “over it.” But IT IS NOT OVER.

Please listen to the people whose lives have been upended by ME/CFS: You do NOT want even a mild version of this.

That really is the most heartbreaking thing. I miss having the stamina to sing longer than a few minutes, but I REALLY miss thinking people would care about me if I wasn’t in front of them making music and having ideas and creating things they liked.

Covid activists don't ask people to mask because we're wokescolds or purity testing.

We are genuinely trying to save y'all from a life of disability. From losing everything you thought mattered most to you. We are trying to help y'all help yourselves before it's too late ❤️.

I feel this so hard. I loved line dancing. For 35 years. It was my social life and no matter what else was going on, I always had dancing to lift me up. I also loved the two gyms I worked out at. I haven't danced for six years. I can barely walk to the corner and back, let alone go to the gym.

It’s International Long Covid Awareness Day.

One of the best things you can do to support people with Long Covid is wear a mask (ideally a respirator like an N95).

Masks break chains of transmission.

They prevent infection.

The only way to avoid Long Covid is to avoid Covid!

It’s been a painful six years for the Covid cautious because we’ve had to come to terms with just how selfish and ableist some people are.

Many folks believe that brief stay at home orders and mask mandates were the worst thing to ever happen to them.
