I told my kids she’s been running in opposition to the late Doug LaMalfa for years, and unlike the guy from the bay who wants to represent our new gerrymandered (for lake of a better word) district, she actually lives here.

I see people on here disappointed by the news of Bluesky accepting more crypto VC money and not sharing that with the community until after the former CEO stepped down. Tough place to be for a community.

To be clear: the SAVE Act does not simply require the identification voting ALREADY requires. It demands proof of CITIZENSHIP— a birth certificate with a name that matches yours now (bye, bye, married women), or a passport— both of which are expensive and take a long time to obtain.

Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM

If UBI was a coup for billionaires and corporations, we'd have gotten it decades ago. They don't want us to have the power UBI provides. They want us to have no choice but to work for them, for as little as they can legally get away with.

UBI = POWER TO THE PEOPLE

Another update: She has updated her goal to $2400 (up from $1800) due to additional bills, if anyone can spare. But the $1800 donated thus far will go a huge way towards solving the immediate problem! Many thanks to everyone who has donated.

I’m utterly uninterested in ā€œdebatesā€ about whether AI can do things well. I wouldn’t care if it could. 1. It stole from me. 2. I prefer me having my job to a computer having it. 3. I don’t teach ā€œwithā€ Lockheed or Raytheon; why wld I teach with Anthropic or OpenAI?

There’s a genuine gaslighting element to forcing faculty to debate whether to teach with AI. If someone broke into my house & stole from me, my employer wouldn’t ask me to work with them. But that’s what AI did. So, no.

ā€œBut what about the need to teach students to be literate in AI?ā€ In 33 yrs of journalism & 15 of teaching, I’ve learned that there are any number of lawyers, doctors, politicians, generals, & CEOs—& yes ā€œeliteā€ students—who are only semiliterate in their native tongue. Let’s worry about that.

America is praying for Austin.

But there is something profoundly cynical about asking God to solve a problem we're not willing to solve ourselves.

God moves and works through us. God has no other hands but our hands.

We must act.

Devlord.Utilities 7.0.1 Package Description

After a few years of "code rest", I updated my #dotnet Utilities #NuGet package. I split off two packages, one for mail utils, and one for Google Maps, as I don't think these features are needed by most users. And I removed deprecated encryption stuff. #FOSS www.nuget.org/packages/Dev...

They also tased and tackled him for no reason. He said "Sorry" and couldn't speak English. He was holding 2 shower curtain rods as walking sticks.

He spent 15 months in jail only to be released to die alone in the cold.

You should be livid after reading this.

They killed him bc they could.

Because of the National driver register, since their licenses are suspended, trans folks cannot move to another state and get a new license until they remove the suspension on their existing Kansas license.

They can't even escape this by moving to another state.

I am thinking tonight of the trans people in Kansas who will wake up tomorrow morning with no valid ID. I am thinking of the thousands and thousands of trans people fleeing their homes in red states. I am thinking about how the government is making trans people refugees in their own country.

Boulder art exhibit spotlights impact of guaranteed income pilot Boulder’s ā€œElevate Boulderā€ exhibit showcases how a two-year guaranteed income program changed lives, reduced stress and boosted the local economy.

"Data show over and over again that when one provides people with basic income or guaranteed income, they spend it on food, rent, child care, medical bills and car payments… Participants shared that this was breathing space — immediately, so much less stress.ā€

FFS, can we please just start UBI now?
