I think there's a line w/ a red handle & the difference might be in: the hair type & what they're recommended to be used with (oils, acrylics, synthetics, etc.). Brush cleaners help too...

they do (even those tiny ass ones). Once I fuck up a brush, I keep it & use it for mixing, to save the others from the same fate (hell, I even cut the hairs that've separated & make a finer point that way, 🤷🏻♀️). I'm mostly working w/ fabric paints rn & I'm using Princeton brushes (w/ the blue handle)
to Michael's -on what they would recommend (if I can tell that they're more knowledgeable (since there's a Real chance the employees may not know). I would suggest to separate your brushes based on the mediums you're painting in & don't mix them; also, brushes hold a Lot more paint than we think
because, while the lower end stuff is ... well "cheap", it adds up. Think of How much worse it would be to do that with higher end materials"
So, if you've got any at stores nearby (they're not close to me but I go to Blicks & ask for advice) or I'll tend to ask fellow shoppers when I happen to go
-not plastic handle meant for kids cheap, end of brushes so you get used to working with them: that's learning how to hold them, the pressure you add, what Exactly you're using them for (poster paints, oils, etc) so that when you, eventually, get better quality brushes, you're not destroying them
How long have you been painting for? I ask bcuz I've been painting for over 10yrs with primarily water based paints (gouache, acrylics, fabric paints) and I've found that "cheap" brushes aren't that bad, depending How you're using them
