Also death metal tends to take a lot of inspiration from classical music, Archspire for example has quite a few sections in their songs that would sound like an etude written 4 centuries ago if played on piano (see the intro guitar part here)

Ah yeag, definitely helps to have some references for style stuff but a lot of metal is fast and features lots of power chords (5ths, tho 4ths are becoming more popular because of how angry they can sound). Also drums and bass do a looooooooot to fill out a song’s guitar part, especially the bass

Programmed guitar tends to sound very robotic, gotta humanize/randomize velocities and note timings a bit to make it sound more organic. I’ve played guitar for about 15 years now, and I genuinely don’t think I could get every note to sound identical if I tried.
