Dreams to Ashes and Nainai's Mountain were both named Notable Social Studies books! Thank you so much to the National Council for the Social Studies and the Children's Book Council.

Dreams to Ashes is a finalist for the California Book Award! It feels especially meaningful to have the book recognized by Californians, since this is a part of our history. I'm glad to see awareness of the 1871 massacre spreading.

What we don't have at the moment though, are many online reviews, which are so important for spreading awareness of the book to people beyond our immediate circles. Would you consider writing one? Amazon is particularly helpful, but any online forum or shop that you frequent would be great.

Our launch has been really lovely so far. We've had lively conversations with readers, written impromptu tall tales with kids, and eaten lots of chocolate-covered cherries.

We’re stoked that children all over the country will be able to learn about Ah Bing through their libraries!

When my daughter asked for my first JLG pin (for Clementine and Danny) several years ago, I was like, “Write your own book!” She asked for the Bing pin too, and I think I’ll give it to her. But only after Bing got a little time with his pin first.
