yeah exactly, like beyond the well-discussed gender, race and identity problems there is also this underlying formalism that comes from capitalist production at scale, and it has affected how we teach basic anatomy to students.

Its something that's difficult to talk about with artists because even if someone learns to be a good feminist and body positive there is kind of an underlying conformity of form that still happens that is hard to describe but you know it when you see it.

Even women who are specifically designed to not be under the male gaze in games (if the budget is big enough) often have the same skeletal proportions and facial characteristics with minor details changed, like funko pops because they're just coming off an assembly line.

I've been around a lot of artists who pump out technically competent identical bodies and faces and when they give each other feedback its all some version of 'make her more appealing', never interrogating that. They all carefully avoid horny language to be professional but that's the accepted goal.
