Combined cycle gas turbine power (often used for mid-merit and peaking plants), and offshore wind are both at ~$100/MWh for generation. Coal and grid scale batteries are at ~$80/MWh for generation or discharge. PVs and onshore wind are at ~$40/MWh generation.
We don't need to fight over fossil fuels. BloombergNEF reports grid-scale batteries are as cheap as coal per MWh. Offshore wind is comparable in price to combined cycle gas turbine power, & onshore wind & PVs (fixed & tracking) are both significantly cheaper than fossil fuels. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋
