So many of us constantly caution against pedastaling. It harms us all - shielding from this kind of unspeakable violence to diminishing our collective responsibility.
I can feel Dolores' words deeply in my bones: "I kept a secret because I believed that exposing the truth would hurt the movement." It resonates for me.
Wishing everyone impacted by and reeling from this today much ease.

People are commenting about how this is about "powerful" men, but in a society that listens to men over women and girls, that treats the former as competent and credible, the latter as not, every man is empowered to abuse, and it happens at all levels and in all sectors of society.

People need to realize that, along with citizens swept up in immigration raids, they have also detained citizens for being involved in activism.
