So building dart blasters is like owning pinball machines for me. I bought TWO more hardware kits at #rmrrf2026 yesterday. A Yeethammer and a Nekomata Lynx. I just need to decide colors for each. And then I need to decide how to rework the storage of the foam armory.

So tempted to start seeing if the projects to convert an Ender 3 to a CoreXY can be adapted to convert the Sovol SV04 into a form of CoreXY... #3dprinter #makermadness

Additional note: I started throwing $5 a month to Gina Häußge, the developer of Octoprint, since it's so useful for my specific print farm.

That noted, I only noticed because I'm printing with Octopi these days, and having a nice handy camera feed means I can see things happen that I don't see if I'm going downstairs to check on prints.

Well, that explains why I'd occasionally see "jumping" when printing on the SOVOL, I had to move the right runout sensor to the left slightly because the cardboard spools would get caught and dig and pull on the extruder.

I'm gonna print a set of replacement sensor mounts tomorrow to improve that.

Every generation needs its Galaxy Quest: a movie that, despite every individual element screaming that it can't be good, is actually good

I would love to know how many of these dudes self-identify as nerds because anecdotally I don't find nerds regularly gamble as they understand the concept of statistics, and if they want to engage in risky behavior with dice they will do it not with craps but with a DM and four fellow adventurers

Not everyone has the time or the financial means to acquire vintage games. The "gaming is only valid on original hardware on a CRT" discourse can fuck right off.

If there's a game you want to check out, and know the means to do so, I support you.

Some of ya'll need to check your fucking privilege.

This is knowing full well that, since we had a water leak, our basement humidity had been higher much of last year, so that would have had an impact on the longevity of filament. But while I had to throw out all 3 spools of Hatchbox transparent, the much older Protopasta was still very printable.

I have found spools that went bad, and they were older, albeit not the oldest, of the spools of PLA. Hatchbox PLA transparents go brittle really fast. Meanwhile, Protopasta translucent/transparent appears to not go bad nearly as fast, so I know which brand of transparent I'm buying in the future.

I am definitely proceeding with the project to 3D print things we could use. This weekend it's an insert/organizer for Pyramid Arcade, and I've used up a few more older spools thus far. Partly to use them before they go bad, partly to clear space for spools to be bought at RMRRF this next weekend.

Not something I do often. I modeled up and printed a replacement part for a toy in the collection today.

He no longer has to hold his own nose.

My strategy for "non-IFPA tournaments only" turned out to be way more correct than I wanted it to be. 😢

I know you were only "planning" to pick up one, until I reminded you that you'd regret not buying both to do either captured or docked. :D

"went bonkers and started harassing" sounds an awful lot like they're saying, "just roll over and quietly accept some events will be hostile to you because you're lesser."

I only participate in any tournament scene for the social aspects. If we only had IFPA tournaments here, I would totally walk away from the scene immediately.

IFPA canNOT be trusted at this point. Our only option is non-IFPA options if they're available.

I can't say that I'm surprised by the attempts to ensure that people are participating, or in areas, basically no longer able to play pinball when they're ethically opposed to the entire handling of OBX.

At this point, my policy to only play in non-IFPA tournament structures has been, unfortunately, been proven to be the correct strategy.
