If we made the green energy transition this war would be unthinkable and these authoritarians wouldn’t be in power — not in the US, not in Iran, not in Saudi Arabia, not in Russia. Hydrocarbons are killing our freedom and just plain killing us.

The SYMBOLOGIST (which is actually just a made-up word for an art historian) Robert Langdon alongside his ingenue saying, "I have to get to a library. Fast."

I don't get to Kalamazoo often, and perhaps it's because the very first time I went I attended the showing of the Da Vinci Code, and nothing will ever top a room of several hundred people dying of laughter at this precise moment of intense drama.

A simple stone rectangular tomb with slightly overhanging flat stone top, and three ovoid holes along the side.
The holes allowed pilgrims and sick people to have access to the coffin below to kiss it and pray.
It is pictured in Salisbury Cathedral with other tombs and stained glass windows in the background.

Simple #TombTuesday of St Osmund, Bishop of Salisbury from 1065.
Originally in 1st Cathedral at Old Sarum for 1099 burial, moved 1226 to new cathedral.
Holes allowed closer contact for pilgrims to crawl in, kiss coffin lid.
Osmund's magnificent shrine from 1457 canonization wrecked in Reformation.

The U.S. was a leader in cultural heritage investigations. Now those agents are working immigration enforcement. Homeland Security Investigations, the department’s investigative arm, once had as many as eight agents in its New York office investigating cultural property cases.

Denver Post confirms what we’ve been hearing: nearly all federal HSI agents with expertise on cultural property crimes have been reassigned to immigration duties in recent months.

Major loss of law enforcement capabilities in the world’s largest art market.
