lolll I do not believe and never stated that it is always possible to prevent harm to everyone. You 🫵 generalized that it's impossible to ever predict harm. Predicting that harm is likely to occur in ✨many✨ cases is possible and ✨reduces✨ victims/severe outcomes. Projecting burnout is shitty. 👋

"Burnout" is pointing out that there are much better tools and research to inform pattern recognition that verifiably reduces victims and severe outcomes, got it.

States punting the challenge of "fixing" societal problems onto platforms is real. But "*Impossible* to predict what speech may actually cause harm"? OK, if you disregard all other context/behavior and only consider content. An ability to predict harm does exist and it is a choice to try to or not.

This is still a significant online subculture. Recommending content to increase time spent on platform and engagement is different than not removing it. As a current safety grunt in Tech™️ I share some concerns. But many harms/risks are better understood now than at the "dawn of time", too.

Thank you for speaking up. I hope more T&S leadership in the industry say something. Apple and Google and payment processors have long enjoyed positions of influence on platform policies from safety to revenue, and now they are all putting profit and favor above user safety because... Elon Musk??

Is it really defeatist to name interfering with the midterms as an objective of the Trump admin's actions, especially after the new Jan 6 anniversary propaganda, the redistricting battle, and Trump openly musing about cancelling elections? They might fail, but they are trying. *takes Malört shot*

There were loads of folks at the Philly demonstration visibly supporting Palestinians, trans people, and workers. Rally speakers included multiple union reps with calls to action that might never reach the "normies" otherwise. I encourage you to attend next time, if able. Progress over perfection.

Disturbing for sure. Airing some unsolicited best practices thoughts - I wish all posts about X/Twitter activity would include the post timestamp in the screenshots. Or, a link to the X/Twitter post. The easier it is to locate a post at its source and verify its recency and relevance, the better.

These recent donations must be violative as well. There is no room for interpretation for the $50 one.

"..ex-gang members are highly susceptible to extortion and coercion from current members of the same gang, and that alone presents an unacceptable security risk for intelligence agencies. And make no mistake: The Com is the English-language cybercriminal hacking equivalent of a violent street gang."
