Especially with disability services, it can be a hidden world, an entirely alien set of structures for people who don't need to come into contact with them... until they do. And who's going to teach them?
At the same time, I can't help but think about something my partner @derekischmitz.link has talked about before, which is that too often people don't even know about the public services being offered to help them because they're not advertised.
As an anarchist, I don't want to glaze Mamdani, and there's things he needs to be criticized and pressured on.
While part of this is PR for sure, I do think it's important how he regularly highlights public services and how they make everything function. The work done is too often invisible.

Forgive my horrific Canva skills, but here’s my Snapshot for August, capturing my first couple weeks as a UAB transfer! Hoping to do one of these each month I’m enrolled & taking classes, but we shall see if I stick to it.

I'm ecstatic to announce that, later this month, I will be continuing my post-secondary journey by becoming a UAB Blazer pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Medical Sociology, with a minor in Legal Affairs.

The Big Death Bill has passed. The GOP willingly chose to kick millions off health insurance, close hundreds of hospitals, nursing homes, & reproductive health clinics, leave millions of families without enough food & kill thousands of people. This is the biggest assault on health in recent history.
I think the chief motivator of humanity is probably spite. Like someone goes "If you're so great then you do it", then they invent the telegraph or something. Sometimes you get so bored you just want to make the world a better place, & I respect that.
