At the Seder table there is a glass of wine
full to the brim
They say it's for someone
who will bring about change
who will herald a time
when the world is fair
and it's people are good and godly.
What they don't say is
at the end of the night
someone's gotta drink that wine.

Started a new Async TI4 game last night. We're not even through the second turn and we've got two guys hurling insults at each other. I woke up to 25+ unread messages at 6AM on a Friday.
Why are we like this?

I'm starting to feel comfortable with my new #Linux install after a couple weeks of ricing. Also the world needs more digital brutalism.
On a lark I made our pancakes with matzo meal this morning instead of all-purpose flour. The texture was a bit gritty but they were by far the fluffiest pancakes I've ever made. I wonder if they count as Kosher for Passover. #food
Borrowing this tip from Bagelsaurus in Cambridge: put brown mustard and on your egg and cheese sandwiches. It's incredible.
Here's a bunch of Roots songs for #TuneTuesday #UnderOverThrough

Just submitted an application that I'm so sure will be turned down I've been checking my phone every thirty seconds for the rejection letter.
The curriculum at my daughter's preschool this week is "Easter and Qingmingjie". I'm certainly no stranger to Jewish erasure, having grown up in a very Catholic town, but for whatever reason the exclusion of Passover is really bothering me. I'm thinking I might do a guest storytime thing on […]
I missed it yesterday, but Aïssata Traoré scored the first goal in #LegacyFC history. Exciting! But unfortunate that it took until 72' into their third match 😬
Next up is San Diego on April 3

My wife has been binging a Netflix jawn called How To Get To Heaven From Belfast. I haven't been watching, but every time I tune in to hear what's happening there's some incredibly funny dialog. Seems like a black comedy-of-errors murder mystery thing if that's your jam.
Like I spend like 2 days every 3 years in InDesign. I don't get why I have to pay so much for it.
It makes me so mad that Adobe Creative Suite is a subscription only thing. I canceled my sub because I don't use it very much anymore, but I found myself wanting to do work in InDesign today. I already put thousands of dollars into Adobe, why can't I just have an old copy of InDesign?
Also JFC […]
Between mid December and mid February I had a persistent cough. I finally kicked it a month ago to the day. This morning I woke up and felt a dry irritation in my throat, and I think I will be jumping off the next bridge I cross.
The new Neurosis album is really interesting. I can believe it's the same band that made Times of Grace (their best, IMO), but you'd have to tell me that. I'm definitely enjoying it though. #music #metal
I met Robert Mueller several times when he was FBI director. We disagreed strongly about electronic surveillance policy, but there could be no doubt about his devotion to a mission that he took extremely seriously. No wonder Trump hated him; their concepts of public service and duty have no […]
The thing that I love about stoner rock is that it goes against the annoying part of me that tries to make music into an academic pursuit. It resists over analysis and just says "here's a real heavy groove to play loud as fuck and it's gonna feel great".
Truckfighters is a perfect example of […]

@rednikki It's been a minute since I've been to Foundry on Elm but their burgers were pretty good last time I went. They made a really yummy vegetarian pasta too.
I've been working towards setting up a Pihole server on my network. If you don't know, Pihole is a server that lives on your network, intercepts requests for ad contents, and basically discards them. The end result is that any device on your network can be ad-free, without plug-ins, regardless […]
I'm actually amazed at how well my #Linux transition has gone. My laptop (an ASUS FA617NS) has switchable graphics, which has historically been a nightmare for me even on Windows. But after installing OpenSUSE Tumbleweed it just works! The only trick was that I could not install Steam from […]
Driving behind an SUV with license plate HYAENID: "Oh, they must be a biologist!"
There's a rainbow hyena bumper sticker with a goofy face on the back: "Oh they must be queer and kinda silly!"
There's a WPI sticker on the window: "Ah. Furry."
Brendan Carr, FCC chair, may actually be more of a clown than Hegseth, but without the missiles and stuff.
This is a reminder to all residents of the Greater Camberville Area that Tuesday is Corned Beef and Cabbage Burrito Day at Anna's. Plan accordingly.
@knizer A bit late to the party, but the Legacy FC home opener is today!
I finally bit the bullet and put OpenSUSE on my ROG TUF laptop. Holy shit, even just moving the mouse around feels more responsive than Windows 11 did. What is going on at Microsoft?
For whatever reason, the 6 cloves of garlic I put into tonight's shrimp scampi totally disappeared into the dish. The result was basically a slightly funky buttered noodles and holy shit I could have eaten buckets of it. #cooking
About 6 months ago my barber up and retired, leaving his cousin in place to handle clients. I've been with the guy for a while, so I felt conflicted about finding a new barber. The cousin is truly a butcher, though. As I was just admiring his latest handiwork, I got an email saying my original […]
New motto for 2026: If your Mai Tai ain't got the lime, I ain't got the time.
A large fish in an aquarium tank. It has large, glassy, tired looking eyes and little whisker things underneath its chin that looks like a sparse beard.
Met this guy at the aquarium today. I wanted to hear some of his war stories about developing the Linux kernel but my daughter saw the giant sea turtle and I had to go chase her.
I don't like Elon Musk, but I don't normally explicitly curse his name. The only time I consistently do that is when we have freezing rain and I have to open my car doors with the stupid recessed handles that he thought would be soooooooo cool (so all these other car makers thought would be […]
