Day 22 - A song with non- western harmonic ideas
Saw her at a weekend festival on The Downs (Bristol) a few years ago. She was awesome, as you'd expect. A force of nature
This classic has crazy complex harmonies from all over the shop.
Heeeeeere's Grace:
Thanks Ismua!
Apparently I also now have an invalid handle, so it's all going Pete Tong

Day 21 - A song with syncopation
Time to go for Primal Scream I think, saw them in the same bill as Massive Attack a few years ago, they still had it
Primal Scream - Movin' On Up

20- A song with fade-out ending
Another band I've seen multiple times (10 days to go on the gig experience sub-challenge)
Radiohead - Everything In Its Right Place

Day 19 - A song that gives you chills
Chills in a very good way - Horace Andy's vocal, the bass, the development of the song. Gets you right in the feels
Massive Attack - Angel

Day 18: A song that feels relaxed
An underappreciated number from their third album.
Saw them at Glasto in the mid 90s in what's become infamous cos they followed Evan Dando who came on late and off his face. Portishead fans turned angry to boo him off 😂

Day 17 - A song that feels bouncy
Saw her at the JamJar last year (grassroots venue in Bristol) and we bounced all night.
Dub Princess with Dreadsquad - Too Much Juggling

Day 16: song with voice leading focus
Not necessarily about the vocal, as I just discovered, but about the smooth transition of chord voices (pitches of the chord). Google tells me this counts.
Here's Quantic with Alice Russell (seen once, want more)
Enjoying it very much, thank you! The next one in particular has taught me something I never knew. I hope I get it right 🤞
(Crazy month to give myself an additional challenge of only including artists I've seen live, but I reckon I can do it)

Day 15: A song with heavy brass presence
A fine tune for a getting-ready-to-go-out playlist. Saw them in Bath and again in Bristol, they brought great energy both times.
The Comet Is Coming - Summon The Fire

Day 14. A song with a lo- fi sound
Saw her a few times in the early 2000s. She was great, if often nervous at the start.
The trauma at the heart of this track is made more poignant by the stripped back production - vocal, piano, that's it.
Cat Power - Names

Day 13: A song with reverb-heavy production
Saw her twice as support (to Mannequin Pussy and English Teacher) and liked her so much that I jumped on when she got to headline a venue. Followed her ever since. Big on reverb, esp here
TTSSFU - I Hope You Die

Day 12. A song with a distinctive instrument
Saw them at Shepherd's Bush, maybe in the early 2000s. Fab gig.
My mind went straight to Warren Ellis and then to this band's more expansive works.
Bagpipes and Bouzouki feature on:
Dirty Three - Doris

Day 11. Song from your favourite Genre
More difficult than the Muso technical challenges
I broke down some aspects that I tend to be drawn to above others, and Venn diagrammed it. Female vocal✅️
Indie/folk/postpunk✅️
Lyricist✅️
Live performer✅️
A bit dark✅️
It's PJ

Day 10 - a song with triplets
Had to look this up, so chose an artist I've seen and not yet chosen and dug back to Camden gigs in the 1990s for a tune that Google assures me has triplets. This should count
Roy Ayers - Everybody Loves the Sunshine
Thanks for checking Ismua!

Day 9 - a song with a call and response melody
Didn't think I'd return to PSB so soon, but in the week of Artemis 2 and to keep with my run of sharing tunes I've seen live, here's:
Public Service Broadcasting - Go!
Got him straight away, don't worry - my mind just got transported back to that of a 7-year old football obsessive
Paul Hegarty too - seem to remember him pulling a silly face.
Anyway, yes - agree with the sentiment of your pic clues
I'm hoping that first one is from the 1977/78 Panini album. The image seems as inked on my mind as - inexplicably - those of Sammy Chung and Gerry Gow

Day 8 - A song with a circle of fifths progression
Time for Lemon Jelly, who were great fun live, gigs full of games with the crowd and joy all round
Here they are with '75 aka Stay With You, a sexed up cover

Day 7 - A song with a clear chord change between verse and chorus
Change, you say? Saw the great man twice, once from afar on the Glass Spider tour, once from the mosh pit at Brixton with Tin Machine
Bowie - Changes
Surprised MC Solaar isn't highlight-credited for this, love that guy

Day 6 - song with multiple languages
Saw her support Public Service Broadcasting on their last tour, she was great so I explored. Most songs mix French and English. She draws comparison with many of my fav artists and maintains her own style
Halo Maud-Celebrate

Day 5 - a song with a vocal intro
A minute-long solo intro here. Have seen them a couple of times now and was transfixed. Beautiful voice over modern Irish Folk. Great musicianship. Can't promise this track will raise your mood.
Lankum - Go Dig My Grave

Day 4 - a song with a swing feel
Maybe more Big Band than swing, but I'll take it.
I've been to a few Björk gigs (to satisfy my self-imposed extra rule)
It's Oh So Quiet

Day 3 - song with a strong backbeat
Decided on an added challenge this month to restrict myself to songs that I've seen live. I'm a live music advocate. Not looked ahead, so we'll see
This one's easy, Underworld (best I saw was at Brixton Academy) Pearl's Girl
Love The Fall.
I've mused filling a whole month's challenges with just one artist before. And the bands (that I like) I've thought it may be possible with are The Fall, Nick Cave &TBS, Half Man Half Biscuit
